G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted December 16, 2022 Posted December 16, 2022 One of the more regrettable contracts in recent times. 8 yrs/$144M (2018-2025) So far during this contract he's been worth a net total of 0.3 fWAR

Jimcanuck Old-Timey Member Posted December 16, 2022 Posted December 16, 2022 Rumour has it the Padres were the only ones bidding for Hosmer's services.

Stangstag Old-Timey Member Posted December 17, 2022 Posted December 17, 2022 Oh my god Yelich has 7 more years on that contract. Christ. What a terrible extension
Laika Community Moderator Posted December 17, 2022 Posted December 17, 2022 Oh my god Yelich has 7 more years on that contract. Christ. What a terrible extension And from a team that really can’t afford to have an albatross deal on the books
BTS Community Moderator Posted December 17, 2022 Posted December 17, 2022 Oh my god Yelich has 7 more years on that contract. Christ. What a terrible extension It looked like such a safe deal too: 28-36 seasons for a guy coming off consecutive 7 WAR seasons, and who contributed with speed, defense, contact and power. Might not be a complete disaster if he keeps putting up league average seasons.

If I'm the SDP I'm at least a little worried about Tatis too Edited December 17, 2022 by G-Snarls

G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted December 17, 2022 Posted December 17, 2022 Mlbtr Left-hander Brett Anderson sat out the 2022 season, but Ken Rosenthal of the Athletic reports he’s preparing for a potential comeback next year. The veteran starter turns 35 in February.
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted December 17, 2022 Posted December 17, 2022 (edited) Always wanted Anderson as a Blue Jay but probably not anymore Edited December 17, 2022 by G-Snarls
BTS Community Moderator Posted December 17, 2022 Posted December 17, 2022 Ways wanted Anderson as a Blue Jay but probably not anymore Brett Anderson + a banned shift is going to get annihilated
Grant77 Old-Timey Member Posted December 17, 2022 Posted December 17, 2022 I wouldn't hate taking on his contract, but I wouldn't give them a lot.

Grant77 Old-Timey Member Posted December 17, 2022 Posted December 17, 2022 Same. If they move Jansen for Kepler I will be pissed Luckily, I don't see that happening after they signed Vasquez.
Grant77 Old-Timey Member Posted December 17, 2022 Posted December 17, 2022 Boston DFA' d Hoy Park only 20 days after trading a real prospect for him. Very odd.
BTS Community Moderator Posted December 17, 2022 Posted December 17, 2022 Boston DFA' d Hoy Park only 20 days after trading a real prospect for him. Very odd. They also kept Hosmer through the rule v draft, had Thad Ward taken 1st overall, then DFA’d Hosmer
Ehjays Verified Member Posted December 17, 2022 Posted December 17, 2022 They also kept Hosmer through the rule v draft, had Thad Ward taken 1st overall, then DFA’d Hosmer Probably hoping they get him back because if he does well, They will not here the end of it.
Grant77 Old-Timey Member Posted December 17, 2022 Posted December 17, 2022 They also kept Hosmer through the rule v draft, had Thad Ward taken 1st overall, then DFA’d Hosmer I'm having a difficult time understanding what the plan is from Chaim Bloom. He lets the franchise player go without even making a sincere effort and proceeds to make a puzzling outfield signing, while not addressing the team's horrendous starting rotation.

I have no idea what that team's direction is supposed to be. They might as well trade Devers at top dollar and go full rebuild.
