Captain_Obvious Verified Member Posted December 7, 2022 Posted December 7, 2022 You can do all sorts of stuff with arbitrary start and end times Run his numbers for that period ending Aug 24 I did. 124 wRC+. How terrible despite removing his most recent data points. The reason I picked the original period is because it corresponds to updating his glasses.
Terminator Old-Timey Member Posted December 7, 2022 Posted December 7, 2022 My guess is Sean Murphy likely goes to the Guardians since they have enough prospect capital to get it done. So that leaves Astros, DBacks, & Marlins competing for one of our catchers. Red Sox and Rays have a need, but I doubt we trade inter-division. The Marlins make a lot of sense. Pablo Lopez is apparently on the block and Jesus Sanchez is a lefty hitting OFer with some upside. I think he's more of a corner OFer but he and Springer could share CF this upcoming year. The Marlins will no doubt want Kirk or Moreno so if we want to move Jansen as the centerpiece for Lopez we'll have to add. Maybe something like Jansen, Espinal, Richards (if Strahm is getting 15 mil Richards is worth something to a cheap team in this market) and a prospect for Lopez and Sanchez?
Terminator Old-Timey Member Posted December 7, 2022 Posted December 7, 2022 Time to trade Danny Jansen to the Astros for Luis Garcia In a market where Taijuan Walker got over 70 million I don't see the Astros trading 4 years of Luis Garcia for 2 years of Danny Jansen.
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted December 7, 2022 Posted December 7, 2022 Seems like a nice deal for St Louis. Basically the same contract Toronto gave Russell Martin in f***ing 2015, when he was 31. Russell was better though. Exactly what I was just thinking about

It’s not like he’s improved in a linear fashion. He goes on runs and is prone to deep valleys. Hard to capture that in a half season sample size
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted December 7, 2022 Posted December 7, 2022 The Cards are such a good Org Yeah they don't waste much money But if they have a major need they find a solid way to fill it

The claim was that only had 70 games of high performance when he had closer to a full season worth of games for a catcher.

wilko Old-Timey Member Posted December 7, 2022 Posted December 7, 2022 The market is nuts. Jays should have done moves before all this s*** hit the fan.
RobinThicc Verified Member Posted December 7, 2022 Posted December 7, 2022 Dodgers, Angels, Padres and Giants will probably all be bidding hard on Ohtani next year. That will be a fun one to watch.

If he stays healthy I can't even fathom how much money he'll get Probably be the first 400-500M player

Jonn Old-Timey Member Posted December 7, 2022 Posted December 7, 2022 I want to know which team will let him play the OF because apparently he doesn’t want to DH all the time. Playing some OF might be part of the next deal.
The Iceman Verified Member Posted December 7, 2022 Posted December 7, 2022 Jays pass in rule 5. Didn't lose any players. Ryan Noda went #2 to Oakland.
Eat My Shatkins Verified Member Posted December 7, 2022 Posted December 7, 2022 I thought maaaaybe Adrian Hernandez would get taken because he's young and at AAA, but he's not a fireballer and struggled after an injury last season.
Sorrow Verified Member Posted December 7, 2022 Posted December 7, 2022 Good for Noda, he should get some playing time in Oakland. Still has solid MiLB numbers with that .395 OBP. Could very well turn into a 20/20 guy with a very low BA and a good OBP for Oak.
keggy Verified Member Posted December 7, 2022 Posted December 7, 2022 Whether it's intentional or not, MLB is a corrupt joke that is meddling with the basic integrity of the game. For the Judge games, this could be a case where Yankees pitchers were using dead balls and opposing pitchers were given live balls against their best hitter--during meaningful games in September. For comparison, Deflategate was one of the biggest scandals in NFL history which only involved altering the football equally for both teams.
Solaxys Old-Timey Member Posted December 8, 2022 Posted December 8, 2022 Masataka Yoshida's deal with the Boston Red Sox is for $90 million. With a posting fee of $15.4 million, the total cost of the five-year deal will be $105.4 million.

Jonn Old-Timey Member Posted December 8, 2022 Posted December 8, 2022 Is he going in as a Blue Jay? You would think Atlanta would make more sense 3 of his 5 All-Star appearances, his world series title, and 2 of his 3 Silver Sluggers.

You would think Atlanta would make more sense 3 of his 5 All-Star appearances, his world series title, and 2 of his 3 Silver Sluggers. 3 of his best 4 seasons were with the Jays. The 4th of 4 was with the Padres. I think it’s a coin flip. The stats says the Jays, the fluffy stuff says the Braves.
Brownie19 Old-Timey Member Posted December 8, 2022 Posted December 8, 2022 Braves land Joe Jimenez for Justyn-Henry Malloy and Jake Higginbotham......Jimenez is a guy I would have liked to see in a Jays uniform.

Terminator Old-Timey Member Posted December 8, 2022 Posted December 8, 2022 #11 Prospect and a throw in for 1 year of Jimenez. Given the RP market it seems like a decent deal for both sides.

MLB selects the team that goes on the plaque now, and I think there is a 40% chance it will be The Jays. (Too bad the league didnt pick for Halladay, f***in Brandy!! That still burns my ass)
