He’s a 4 FIP pitcher. It stands to reason he often mixes good games with bad ones. No I wasn’t the troll, but I think you’re taking the point way too literally: 1 good start, then two bad ones. Like do you think someone actually thinks that’s a concrete pattern? Lol. It’s just a way of saying he’s too inconsistent to be a front line pitcher. Again, there’s no sense continuing to argue about his WAR. It’s perfectly fine to see it that way. It’s perfectly fine to look at his 4.00 career FIP and judge him that way too. Neither side is wrong. Usually when two sides have a point, it makes for a hot debate

It’s all opinion, but if he doesn’t put up a career year in 2021, I doubt he gets that contract. 3.40 FIP and 4.00 FIP pitcher are a little different. I imagine Jays thought he was taking that next step handing out the contract

So just to be clear - do you also believe Manoah is a 3rd/4th starter type and not someone who scares anyone in a playoff game? If so, this team probably needs to start rebuilding eh?

Dig it up. I was calling him the ace from Day 1

He’s a FIP beater. If you’re trying to correlate Berrios to something, his FIP and ERA mirror each other pretty well

Gausman I was wait-and-see with. Another guy I constantly rostered in fantasy leagues for years and finally soured on him…I think it was at least fair to wonder if he could replicate his success in the AL East but he proved legit

connor's trashing gives me confidence Berrios will be good this year

Says the guy who kicked off the season trading me one of the best SP in baseball for Cody Bellinger

Yankees have apparently offered Judge 8/300M

Pretty good offer. I don’t know how much more he can realistically expect to get. Does anyone go add two years and go 10/375? I kinda doubt it.

Depending on his mindset, something like 10/320 might be enough to sway him. Similar to the Harper contract. Less AAV but more overall

There’s always some jerk off

One thing Judge does perceivably have going for him is that he’s one of, if not the most, marketable person in baseball. Definitely would be a nugget for a team negotiating tv contract or something

It's probably about legacy now.

I'll bet SF offers similar

Taxes are high in both states

No one else is probably offering this contract except maybe Mets and that doesn't seem like where he would go

Does be want to be a top 10-20 all time Yankee

Or does he want to be a legend closer to home

If I had the chance, i’d pick hometown hero no question. Really depends how important the “Yankees legacy” is to him

He may get one of those pillow “join the front office” after the contract type deals

Though I think Pujols had something like that and it didn’t work out lol. But if I remember right, LAA parlayed the signing into a monster tv deal

SF might whip there dick out, but I see him staying in NY at that dough.

I don't understand the appeal of SF myself. They aren't close to winning are they? ML roster isn't amazing, nor is the farm system.

Terrible place to hit, bad team, tough division. Seems unlikely he’s really that interested

Agreed. I understand it's a nice city and the weather is nice if you like it between 12 and 18 all year round. It's not as nice as the weather in LA or SD. Family matters though, so maybe that's a big factor for him. I still think he ends up back in NY. As much as I hate the Yankees, there's something about becoming the next yankee legend that has to be pulling at him.

I do too. The opportunity to be a Yankee for life will be too much for him to turn down I think
