BCZ Verified Member Posted September 12, 2022 Posted September 12, 2022 Pujols going out like a Chad... if he actually hits 700 that would be remarkable...
Brownie19 Old-Timey Member Posted September 12, 2022 Posted September 12, 2022 That's pretty incredible.
Jonn Old-Timey Member Posted September 12, 2022 Posted September 12, 2022 I seriously think Pujols is juicing to finish out his career lol. Up to an .866 OPS and putting up his best numbers in a decade. Yes a literal decade since hes put up even an .800 OPS. No shot he’s having an insane resurgence like this without help.

It is more than a little suspicious. However they are mostly only playing him vs lefties so maybe that is making a huge difference for him

I'd say it's likely. MLB prob not even testing him
Laika Community Moderator Posted September 12, 2022 Posted September 12, 2022 Before anyone says Albert would never cheat, he's too straight edge... I mean Doc was ostensibly as "clean" as MLB stars get and we found out after he died that he was basically on drugs his entire career No doubt in my mind that Albert is on SOMETHING right now. But it could I guess just be an aggressive but legal concoction of cortisone shots and pain killers and stimulants lol

I think the opposing pitchers are giving Pujols a lot of "respect" too. Nobody talks about it, but guys like Jeter and Ripken would get fed BP meatballs during their farewell tour.

It’s possible pitchers are challenging him with fastball because he has looked finished for years. But I doubt pitcher’s are purposely serving him up meatballs. I remember the Homerun he hit at Rogers Centre and thinking wow that looked like early 2000’s Pujols. Since then hes been absolutely destroying Baseball. His numbers were not very good when the Cardinals came to town in July.

BTS Community Moderator Posted September 12, 2022 Posted September 12, 2022 St.Louis has also managed his workload. He sits against tough righties, and gets lots of days off. That probably makes a big difference.

Spanky__99 Old-Timey Member Posted September 12, 2022 Posted September 12, 2022 Brendan McKay RIP... it's truly incredible what this kid's been through... Sept. 10: LHP Brendan McKay (elbow) recalled from Triple-A Durham, placed on 15-day injured list McKay will undergo Tommy John surgery on Wednesday, performed by Dr. Neal ElAttrache in Los Angeles, on the damage to the UCL in his left elbow that he sustained during Durham’s Aug. 26 game. He will then begin his rehab process at Tropicana Field with the Rays’ medical staff, with the goal to return to pitching in 2024. The No. 4 overall pick in the 2017 MLB Draft, McKay has not thrown a big league pitch since his debut season in ’19 due to an unfortunate run of major injuries. The 26-year-old, who is on Tampa Bay’s 40-man roster, has needed surgery on a torn labrum in his left shoulder, thoracic outlet syndrome decompression surgery and now Tommy John surgery in consecutive years. “Look, you feel for him. It’s tough,” said manager Kevin Cash on Saturday. “It’s not gone the way Brendan or we were hoping. Hopefully, he has some good fortune, some good luck moving forward and gets back on our mound.”

Brownie19 Old-Timey Member Posted September 14, 2022 Posted September 14, 2022 When was the last time MLB had 21 year old superstar CFers who were both going to win the ROY (and carry their teams into the playoffs)?
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted September 14, 2022 Posted September 14, 2022 Padres holding a slim 1-0 lead over the Mariners in the 7th
Grant77 Old-Timey Member Posted September 14, 2022 Posted September 14, 2022 Mariners lose Nice I was taking a look at the Mariners stats and it's pretty shocking that they are actually in a playoff position. For all of the talk of their pitching, it's average or below by fWAR, ranking 16th in the league. They are also decidedly below averge defensively and on the basepaths at -4.6 and -8.9, respectively. The offense is a tick above average, but they get there with a piss poor .229 batting average. Anybody with complaints about the Jays offensive approach should watch the Mariners. It's hard to argue that this isn't just a .500 team with an extremely easy schedule. Next year I can't wait to get a bigger piece of those s***** West opponents.

To be fair, we played them like s*** and they beat us 6 out of the 7 games. But yes the schedule balancing next year will be enlightening. Mariners also have the easiest schedule in the majors going forward lol. Good chance they get home field for the WC
