I think Perry Minasian might be a moron. They have two mid-prime HoF hitters, and then Ward, Rendon, Walsh, Marsh, and Stassi who are good. The issue is that those 7 guys are supplemented by like 800 PA of sub-replacement level trash. Pitching is the same deal: their rotation has actually been good, but their bullpen has given them 0.0 fWAR and a -3.7(!) WPA.

I live about 5 minutes from Angel Stadium so see them a lot. They continue to not have a pitching staff and were playing way over their heads early in the season. I like Madden and wouldn't be to upset if he replaced CM

This kind of stuff predates Minasian, so Arte Moreno is also an idiot. The rest of the teams in that division are so lucky to have the Angels and Mariners. There isn't a worse pair of division rivals in the 2000s, not even the Reds and Pirates.

But these Angels issues are years old. Not enough depth. Their SP rotation coming into 2022 was disgusting. How could they start 2022 with that depth chart? Other than Ohtani it was kind of just a bunch of shots in the dark.
