Umps seem to REALLY want the automated strike zone, so they're sucking extra hard to make sure there's literally zero excuse not to use it.

Sox were on the precipice of sweeping Angels; 3-2 to Walsh, 2 out.

Walsh singles to tie the game.

They really do. It's not like they're gonna get rid in umps... They'll still be there to call safe/out, balks, and fair/foul. This will make their job so much easier, why wouldn't they want it.

This is embarrassing for MLB. We have better umpiring in my softball beer league.

Nice to see Rowdy off to a hot start. Chase rate and Barrel % has improved a lot so far to go along with his elite EV's. He might have a couple 130+ wRC+ seasons as he enters his prime.

Rowdy will play for Tampa and/or Oakland before his career is complete.

Because then anyone could be an ump. If anyone, such as the village idiot, can be an ump, what would happen to the salary?

Sure, I'll take the low-hanging fruit here. "The village idiot is already the ump".

Anyone can be anything today. There are still only so many jobs to go around.

Also has 2 hits: deep drive off the CF wall for a single (lol) and a liner off the green monster for an RBI single.

The Reds are 3-22 with a run differential of -87. That -3.48 runs per game.

They're on a worse pace than the Cleveland Spiders from 1899, who finished 20-134.

Just looked them up. They averaged 3.4 runs per game and gave up 8.1. That's unfathomably bad.

This is so annoying, lol.

https://www.espn.com/mlb/insider/insider/story/_/id/33854347/why-jose-ramirez-left-millions-table-stay-cleveland-guardians

Why did the one guy to do this have to be the superstar third baseman that was a perfect fit for this team and was actively being pursued in a trade...

"They told him that they can't afford what he's worth, and he told them that he didn't care," Nieves said. "He wanted to stay there, and they made it work. He knows that he left money on the table, but he says, '$150 million or $200 million, my life is gonna be the same. I'm happier with $150 million in Cleveland than $200 million somewhere else.'"

Honestly, nice to see an athlete actually admit the facts, show some loyalty and stay true to his heart and what he wants. Good for him on securing that bag, Cleveland should be kissing his feet for the next decade

Absolutely, I'm not sure if the rest of these guys think they'll live to be 300 years old or what but when they turn down 300 million because they have to have 375 million what actual difference do they think that's going to make? Neither they or their children will spend the 300 million in their lives let alone the extra 75 they just to have to have or throw a fit
