Terminator Old-Timey Member Posted April 5, 2022 Posted April 5, 2022 Yeah I like the Tigers too. In addition to all of the offseason moves they were actually pretty decent in the second half last year. Could def see them winning that division.
Laika Community Moderator Posted April 5, 2022 Posted April 5, 2022 Tigers lineup still sucks. Schoop, Candelario, Barnhart, Miggy, Grossman, Baddoo, Baez, Torkelson, Meadows? A bunch of those guys aren't that good. And you just know two of Mize, Skubal, Manning will suck or get hurt.

I don't love them but I think they have amassed a nice collection of average players across the board, some of which have some decent upside. In that division that might be good enough. But it could also blow up in their face.
L54 Old-Timey Member Posted April 5, 2022 Posted April 5, 2022 Who is better Greg Bird or Miguel Cabrera?

They will need some health luck and prospect breakouts to contend. Skubal has looked good this spring with 21K and 3BB in 13.2 IP. Probably not a playoff team this year but there is a path to them contending soon if things break right. Expanded playoffs will help too.
Stangstag Old-Timey Member Posted April 5, 2022 Posted April 5, 2022 Héctor Gómez @hgomez27 SOURCE: The #Padres are showing a lot of interest in making a trade with the #Guardians to get star 3B Jose Ramirez before the Opening Day's deadline. @z101digital @ZDeportes Manny back to SS?? Or do they plan to run Ramirez at 2B… until Tatis is back that is
Jimcanuck Old-Timey Member Posted April 5, 2022 Posted April 5, 2022 Calling it, the Padres are going to waste one of the best collection of prospects ever and not win a WS

HERPDERP Old-Timey Member Posted April 6, 2022 Posted April 6, 2022 thats a bad deal for Jram. Kind of weird too after his agent tweeted "LOL" a few days ago
glory Old-Timey Member Posted April 6, 2022 Posted April 6, 2022 Ramirez must really like playing in Cleveland.
saskjayfan Old-Timey Member Posted April 6, 2022 Posted April 6, 2022 thats a bad deal for Jram. Kind of weird too after his agent tweeted "LOL" a few days ago To be fair, I'm sure his agent said, don't take that deal, don't take that deal! A crazy injury can happen at any time and he had 2 years before free agency. You have to present the offers. It's entirely possible Ramirez liked Cleveland and 124 million dollars is still 124 million dollars. It's kind of refreshing to see an elite athlete not force his way out of a small market and take a home town discount.
Sammy225 Old-Timey Member Posted April 6, 2022 Posted April 6, 2022 I mean it has been widely said that JRam wants to be in Cleveland and to stay there he would have to take a contract like this. Cleveland is known for not giving out these big contracts.
Krylian Old-Timey Member Posted April 6, 2022 Posted April 6, 2022 Ramirez must really like playing in Cleveland. They've got pictures of him f***ing a donkey. No other explanation.
Ehjays Verified Member Posted April 6, 2022 Posted April 6, 2022 Hopefully Vladdy and Bo like Toronto as much as JRam does Cleveland. Thats a sweet deal for Cleveland.
Jays24 Old-Timey Member Posted April 6, 2022 Posted April 6, 2022 And the JRam dream is officially over. Surprised he took a discount to stay with a team not on a cusp of the world series.

BTS Community Moderator Posted April 6, 2022 Posted April 6, 2022 The rumours will follow him for years, he's worth large value now. I think his 10-5 rights kick in this offseason
King Old-Timey Member Posted April 6, 2022 Posted April 6, 2022 This is Acuna/Albies level bad. His first contract was somehow even worse. 6/36 from 2017-22 with a 2023 club option. So, he will finish his age 34 or 35 season with $186 million in career earnings. How much money has he left on the table as a 3-time 6+ fWAR player? 300+ million?

It's mind blowing, they don't treat him well, and he's bending over again. Crazy!
