NEWS: For the first time in two decades, the Orioles are altering Camden Yards’ playing dimensions, moving back and raising the left-field wall to try to reduce the iconic ballpark’s propensity for home runs.

Camden Yards’ left-field wall will be about 5 feet taller in 2022 and moved as much as 30 feet farther from home plate. Since its introduction in 1992, no ballpark has seen more home runs sail over its fences. #Orioles

30 feet + a 12 foot fence seems like overkill.

Meh, usually when a guy gets a hold of one it's gone in any park, the Orioles LF fence was just a big as a joke as any AL East dimension.

Not really, it was almost 20 feet deeper than the joke of a RF porch in Yankee Stadium.

333 to the shortest corner. Now it could be as deep as 363 with a 12 foot fence. Oracle park in Frisco is 339 to LF, 10 feet high. Petco is 334, similar height. I know they said it could be moved "As deep as 30 feet" which might not mean a change to the LF corner and maybe they mean the LF power alley, but either way, a 12 foot fence with those kind of dimensions is pretty harsh.

Yeah - MLB Network guy was suggesting Lester is absolutely a HOF pitcher. You can't add him if you're leaving Pettitte out.

There's quite a few who should go in before Lester.

I've been listening to MLB network quite a bit the last few weeks... every single one of them have the stereotypical old school baseball opinions. Listening to them whine about A-Rod being the new co-host of a show MLB is doing was priceless. They are so out of touch it's kind of sad.

Guess this means less homers for Vlad and more rope singles off the wall

Brian Kenney is new-age and generally has great opinions, but he’s not a former major leaguer. I also enjoy Greg Amsinger’s enthusiasm about everything…

You can see a pattern here

When are they on?

He hosts MLB Now, decent show, but not airing at the moment. He's on MLB Tonight right now, premiere for the year. Jim O'Dowd, Morosi and Vasgersian is on.

Dave Stieb should be in before Lester ever touches the HOF. Hell, I'll say the same about Harold Baines too. Lester should be a guy who falls off the ballot first year, with some votes, maybe 10.

I am so thankful that I got to live out my childhood dream and share it with the people I love and care about. I have contemplated this day for for a while but the time has finally come for me to hang up the spikes. I’m grateful for these last couple of years and the challenges you presented me that finally led me to face one thing.. My EGO. I have tied so much of my self worth into my success on the field. Without that success I have spent many waking hours and sleepless nights trying to find a way back to the show. How to fix my swing. How to be a better teammate and a leader. What I have learned through those experiences is what gives me the confidence in this transition to becoming a “former player”. It is beautiful struggle sharing a clubhouse with 30 other dudes going to battle 100+ times a year. I will miss that the most. But I am looking forward to being a more present husband, father, family member, and friend. Thank you @isabsnider for your unwavering support and sacrifice for these last 10+ years. Gracias a @mariamardebau por toda su ayuda en la crianza de nuestros hijos y por estar allí para que yo pudiera estar lejos. To my teammates, coaches, trainers, front office, and clubhouse families.. thank you for all the amazing memories. Thank you to the @bluejays @pittsburghpirates @orioles @kcroyals @rangers @liducks @dbacks @marlins @braves for giving me the chance to wear a jersey and compete. And thank you to my family, friends, and fans who have supported me on this wild ride. I love you all and wish you nothing but health and happiness wherever this life takes us. Maybe he pissed through the signing bonus money thinking he’d be swimming in superstar cash…but once he sputtered at mlb, hopefully he hedged his bets

Carlos Correa Switches Agencies, Hires Boras Corporation

By Darragh McDonald | January 18, 2022 at 8:51pm CDT

Free agent shortstop Carlos Correa has switched agencies and is now a client of the Boras Corporation, according to Mark Berman of Fox 26. Correa had previously been represented by William Morris Endeavor.

Going into the offseason, Correa was widely considered to be part of a two-headed top of the free agent class, along with Corey Seager. Both offered similar appeal to prospective teams, as both shortstops entered free agency at the age of 27 and offered elite production on both sides of the ball. MLBTR placed Correa at the top of the annual Top 50 Free Agents, projecting him for a contract of $320MM over ten years, with Seager just behind in the number two slot and a projection of $305MM over ten years. Seager, who is also represented by Scott Boras, beat his projection when the Rangers signed him to a ten-year deal worth $325MM. Correa, meanwhile, did not find a contract to his liking before the lockout and remains a free agent.

Well that agency just cost themselves millions and millions by not signing one of the offers before the lockout lol
