Today, we make history. First series win in the Trop ever. Break the curse.

Not ever... but it feels like it. 2014 was the last series win there... and prior to that it was 2007.

Is there a legit good reason why they keep playing Mcguire this much?

What in the actual f***?

Well, he has put up the most WAR between our 3 catchers. He's not bad. He hasn't been all the great as of late, but it shows with him only having 3 games started in Sept.

You guys need to relax about Reese. He's been fine. He's been our best defensive catcher this year (at least fangraphs thinks so) and he's had all of ten plate appearances this month. I wouldn't exactly call that a ton of playing time.

And Kirk hasn’t exactly been forcing his way into the lineup

Bit of a slump latelyy, still a 120 wRC+ for September.

McGuire's wRC+ For september is -10.

However, overall this season he is league average against RHP, so it's not super egregious.

The case could be made for Jansen over McGuire. But Stripling has a 7.30 ERA when throwing to Jansen and a 3.84 when throwing to McGuire. Some pitchers are just more comfortable throwing to certain catchers, and they're more in sync.

April this season we beat them @ the Trop.
