Stangstag Old-Timey Member Posted July 31, 2021 Posted July 31, 2021 Who gives a s*** about Jonathan Davis? Guy earned his shot and has done nothing. I think it's over for him. Agree, he got his shot
Ehjays Verified Member Posted July 31, 2021 Posted July 31, 2021 Hope you're right on that extension, the market was expensive, especially arms. Alot of posts suggesting Extension, has the FO stated they were gonna talk extension or is that just us assuming

John_Havok Old-Timey Member Posted July 31, 2021 Posted July 31, 2021 Letterman's top 10 reasons for signs that your MLB career is over... Dang, outfield defense when the rosters expand just took a hit.
TwistedLogic Old-Timey Member Posted July 31, 2021 Author Posted July 31, 2021 What do you mean? Cimber Hand Soria Richards Berrios Dickerson SIX viable MLB players brought in. They range from minor upgrades to significant improvements. There really aren't any holes left on the roster. You could quibble about Biggio, or outfield defense, or a lockdown reliever, but the front office really did an admirable job improving the squad. A lot of work and a lot of trades. They already had Cimber, Richards and Dickerson when Atkins was regularly giving interviews about still needing to improve the team's defense and pen. I really don't see how Hand and Soria accomplishes that.

I really don't see how Hand and Soria accomplishes that. Atkins always just says "run prevention" because he doesn't want to commit to acquiring specific things and wants to be open to bringing in starters, relievers, or defensive upgrades. I mean you can't deny that he upgraded their run prevention. Unless you think Chatwood > Soria?
Eat My Shatkins Verified Member Posted July 31, 2021 Posted July 31, 2021 They certainly added a bunch of relievers who don't f***ing walk a lot of batters. Considering that is probably the biggest weakness the pen had, and it led to a lot of runs being scored against us at key times, I'd say they did a great job in improving run prevention on paper at least.

I'm sure they can get something done.

I really don't see how Hand and Soria accomplishes that. Hand and Soria are clear upgrades on the slop we’ve had. Also, we have 6 starters now and Stripling has a lot of experience in the pen where he has a 3.28 career FIP. So acquiring Berrios is likely to improve the pen as well.
