Stangstag Old-Timey Member Posted May 30, 2021 Posted May 30, 2021 Too much beta mentality oozing out of our manager. Just accept you made a bad decision. Always trying to look at the brighter side. Charlie seems like the kind of guy who would watch his wife have sex with someone else Well, at least she enjoyed it!

saskjayfan Old-Timey Member Posted May 30, 2021 Posted May 30, 2021 I didn't realize the blue jays manager's job security was equivalent to that of government workers. It doesn't matter how much you screw up. Your job is safe!
saskjayfan Old-Timey Member Posted May 30, 2021 Posted May 30, 2021 I think we need to classify Chatwood as a C-tier reliever again. He IS NOT one of our best relief pitchers. A couple bad outings just reminded us what he is. His fastball is still pretty electric. He's a 7th or 8th inning guy. If he's not on you can pull him. He'll get us some clean innings. Romano is the only guy I really trust at this point. Hurry back Merryweather!
Olerud363 Old-Timey Member Posted May 30, 2021 Posted May 30, 2021 Im fine with using Romano to secure the first win. Its debatable but I get it. You cannot, for any reason, under any circumstance, let a relief pitcher walk 4 batters in a row in the final inning of a 1-run game. Unless that pitcher is named Chapman AND the bullpen is depleted. The problem is there is no one else. Castro is a no-name rookie with 10 innings under his belt. Maybe A.J. Cole could of been used.

Shatkins needs to acquire a dependable pen arm soon it looks.
Daniel Labude Jays Centre Contributor Posted May 31, 2021 Posted May 31, 2021 So we lost cause Montoyo was proving a point to Chatwood...really
max silver Old-Timey Member Posted May 31, 2021 Posted May 31, 2021 Lately Charlie is managing like he's trying to get fired. We can only hope that Atkins sees the recent problems the same way we do, it is totally baffling that a man with so much baseball experience can continue to make such incomprehensible decisions.
5ToolPhenom Verified Member Posted May 31, 2021 Posted May 31, 2021 It almost felt like he tried to lose on purpose. Someone check his browser history for gambling sites. That's honestly the first thought that I had. What other reasonable conclusion can one come to when watching that other than they were purposely throwing the game? Definitely some suspicious activity taking place with that display.
5ToolPhenom Verified Member Posted May 31, 2021 Posted May 31, 2021 The game has been over for 45 mins and I still can't believe how absurd that was. I agree with whoever said that Charlie must have had money on the Indians Just completely pissed away a win and a series sweep This really should be investigated... I mean what other conclusion can one come to? 4 straight walks before you pull the guy with the game on the line? No one can try and tell me that there wasn't some funny business taking place there. I know we like to think of our sports heroes as these moral and upstanding people, but sometimes shady behavior does find its way in any professional sports league when you can gamble on it. It's just a reality of the situation.
5ToolPhenom Verified Member Posted May 31, 2021 Posted May 31, 2021 If Montoyo really was throwing the game to stick it to Chatwood for some grudge then he deserves to be fired. That kind of idiocy is inexcusable. It's not as though the Jays are running away with the division or something. It's the AL East.

Yeah... if you want to publicly embarrass your pitcher (which you really shouldn't be doing) you don't do it in a 1-run game. Throw him into a blowout... like the first game of the series, and let him walk 8 in a row to show him how pathetic he is.
Stangstag Old-Timey Member Posted May 31, 2021 Posted May 31, 2021 Just watched the Indians feed of the inning, their announcers are in absolute disbelief that Montoyo didn't do anything until the game was tied. They're clowning on him. They literally said "have to thank Tyler Chatwood and Charlie Montoyo for this win"

Still can’t believe that happened
