Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted April 30, 2021 Posted April 30, 2021 Not the first time Shapiro has employed known s*** bags. You get what you pay for. Hopefully he owns up to this incident unlike the Callaway allegations where he denied involvement. lol
Dick_Pole Old-Timey Member Posted April 30, 2021 Posted April 30, 2021 Freedom of speech: 1. The Blue Jays and the MLB have a right to make their own thresholds for what defines violating rules of conduct and act accordingly. 2. Each individual has the right to their own threshold for determining their opinion on the matter and support or not support the Jays and MLB's decision. This has nothing to do with proving guilt or innocence in court, though plenty of people are within their rights to have that as their threshold.

Also this incident happened in 2014... under AA and Beeston.

Grant77 Old-Timey Member Posted April 30, 2021 Posted April 30, 2021 He shouldn't be removed from the Level of Excellence for something he did after his playing career, but I understand ending his employment if there were serious indiscretions in 2014.
Stangstag Old-Timey Member Posted April 30, 2021 Posted April 30, 2021 Yup. There seems to be a pattern here Im blanking, what’s the pattern?
Dick_Pole Old-Timey Member Posted April 30, 2021 Posted April 30, 2021 Looking at some of these posts, do people not realize that the investigation has been concluded and the MLB felt that this is what they needed to do. We don't know the details behind the investigation, only that it exists. That's why some people want to wait to pass judgement until it's in the courts. At least there is some standard of evidence that would be consistent with other cases in what could be a "he said, she said" case. DNA evidence, video, witnesses, a proven pattern of behaviour etc.

So if he shot up a preschool and murdered a bunch of innocent kids he should still be on the level of excellence because it was after his playing career?
Jays24 Old-Timey Member Posted April 30, 2021 Posted April 30, 2021 So if he shot up a preschool and murdered a bunch of innocent kids he should still be on the level of excellence because it was after his playing career? You sure are treating this like that's exactly what Alomar did lol
Dick_Pole Old-Timey Member Posted April 30, 2021 Posted April 30, 2021 The Level Of Excellence is a pure marketing tool. There is no value to it other than what us as fans think of it. It's not a World Series banner, plaque in the HOF or even a retired jersey. IIRC, the Jays were the team to start with that thing, as an alternative to the tradition of retiring jersey numbers. Therefore if the Jays figure it has more value to fans without Alomar's name than with it, it makes sense to take his name off.
wilko Old-Timey Member Posted April 30, 2021 Posted April 30, 2021 I want to know what happened? He's getting canceled because of allegations in 2014? Was this investigated? Did it go to court? What's going on here!? I want details!
Jays24 Old-Timey Member Posted April 30, 2021 Posted April 30, 2021 How are we supposed to feel about this? If it was really bad then there should be some criminal charges but it was bad enough for MLB/Jays to take the stance they did. Any idea what people think happened here? Like bad jokes? Improper touching? Is this all a result of some HR violations?
Grant77 Old-Timey Member Posted April 30, 2021 Posted April 30, 2021 So if he shot up a preschool and murdered a bunch of innocent kids he should still be on the level of excellence because it was after his playing career? Your argument is a logical fallacy known as reductio ad absurdum. There's not much point in responding to it.
Jimcanuck Old-Timey Member Posted April 30, 2021 Posted April 30, 2021 90% of the population doesn't give a s*** about this.
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted April 30, 2021 Posted April 30, 2021 WTF??? So he's been cancelled and that's enough? We'll never know what's in that investigation, unless Alomar counters to expunge his name from social justice? This is messed up.

Maybe im dumb to trust the MLB though lol.
BTS Community Moderator Posted April 30, 2021 Posted April 30, 2021 Very cool that the team's only HoFer is now a disgraced (alleged) sexual predator who has no ties to the team anymore.

MLB and the Jays are not going to breach confidentiality rules in this case. Alomar can sue if he wants, but that will likely be a closed proceeding.

Since the accuser has no interest in money that's the only choice.

King Old-Timey Member Posted April 30, 2021 Posted April 30, 2021 (edited) It's sad that there is a person out there suffering from this and some of you only care about the "Level of Excellence". I hope they find the peace they need to heal from this and still have a good life. Edited April 30, 2021 by King used improper pronouns
Grant77 Old-Timey Member Posted April 30, 2021 Posted April 30, 2021 King is full of logical fallacies today. People don't like seeing Alomar's reputation destroyed and a black mark placed on the franchise without knowing what happened. Therefore, those same people don't care about sexual assault victims.
Boxcar Old-Timey Member Posted April 30, 2021 Posted April 30, 2021 Why because I'm not willing say he's a scumbag until I hear details of what happened? Are accusations the same as convictions these days? All I said was that I'm not willing to talk like some people who are saying they're "disappointed" in Alomar without even knowing wtf he actually did. Speaking of King, I no longer really post on this board and yet this dillhole keeps texting me randomly. I consider this sexual harrassment as I've asked him to f*** off many times. Please remove his existence from this board so that he does not exist, and never existed.
Krylian Old-Timey Member Posted April 30, 2021 Posted April 30, 2021 It is okay for your favourite players to be a piece of s*** For all we know Vladdy, Ryu, and Bichette are behind a human trafficking operation. Point is, we don't really know these guys... Until something comes out. If it comes out. Some of our favorite players as kids were probably despicable people (pre-social media when it was easier to keep a secret).

Is there a BJMB level of Excellence. And if so, in King in it?
DigitalRock Old-Timey Member Posted April 30, 2021 Posted April 30, 2021 Short of him being charged with a crime, removing him from the Level of Excellence and taking his banner down is over doing it. And Sexual Misconduct is an extremely broad term. That could be anything from an ill-advised joke to something criminal. They did an investigation with an external Law Firm.....they clearly have a lot of evidence to go this far...
DigitalRock Old-Timey Member Posted April 30, 2021 Posted April 30, 2021 Very cool that the team's only HoFer is now a disgraced (alleged) sexual predator who has no ties to the team anymore. Yeah and Halladay went in with no team....
Boxcar Old-Timey Member Posted April 30, 2021 Posted April 30, 2021 Is there a BJMB level of Excellence. And if so, in King in it? If he is, I want him taken down. What kind of f***ing weirdo does that? Would you randomly text someone you talked to a few times over the internet and then go act like a hero who is against all forms of harrassment? King is basically the Kevin Spacey of BJMB. I'm vulnerable while I'm taking a dump. Last thing I want is some creep popping in to ask me if I'm an anti-vaxxer, presumably to know whether they can pursue sexual desires.
