Bad bullpens don’t necessarily lead to more 1 run losses. After all, a bad bullpen can turn a 1 run loss into a 4 run loss like it did on the 4th. If anything it’s mostly due to luck.

Not sure that the Red Sox have a good pen either and I doubt it’s better than the Rays’.

Boston has ONE reliever on the IL right now. They have been so remarkably lucky this season, it's really incredible.

And in other news our 2nd best RP pitched 5 shutout innings allowing 1 hit for Buffalo yesterday.

The guy who produced an xERA of 4.80 and FIP of 4.14 in 2020 is our second best reliever? Our bullpen is a tire fire this season but it's not THAT bad.

I wish people would stop thinking that Hatch is some kind of savior. Please dont get your hopes up, guys not that good.

Can I still do it with Pearson?

Thornton gone. Now just need another bullpen add or two to displace Dolis and Chatwood, who are both very dangerous because Buntoyo will not hesitate to use them in high leverage spots.

Lol

In the least surprising news ever category, Julian Merryweather is once again injured.

Toronto is just going to non-tender an injured Julian Merryweather within the next two seasons and it will be a very sad day.

Optioned to Mars would have been better.

Nothing wrong with giving him a chance to iron out his command in AAA. His raw stuff should be well suited to a bullpen role, as the velocity was ticking upwards as the season went on, and the high spin arsenal gives him the ability to miss a lot of bats. He certainly needs to stop serving up meatballs if he wants any chance to succeed though.

Jesus man, I guess that was on his recent side session, hadn't heard anything since, till this. Brutal.

I like the idea of dealing Jansen or Mcguire for Rodriguez if possible, and also acquiring Kimbrel.

Kimbrel

Romano

Rodriguez

Merryweather

Borucki

Mayza

Cimber

Richards

Barnes

Castro

Saucedo

Deep bullpen on paper.

What would Kimbrel cost to acquire?

Probably a lot less than people think because he's expensive and was also ass the two years prior to this one. I think his option looks pretty likely to vest next year unless the Jays were to game it but then they are forced with using Romano as the CL. But given all that they might get a decent deal on him and he fits a need so I'm sure the Jays are kicking the tires on him.
