Scion Verified Member Posted June 30, 2021 Posted June 30, 2021 I suspect Kirk could use some additional games to get back into a rhythm and improve his game calling anyways so it's not the end of the world if he is the odd man out initially.
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted June 30, 2021 Posted June 30, 2021 What a stupid question, of course they won't carry 3 catchers?
Daniel Labude Jays Centre Contributor Posted June 30, 2021 Posted June 30, 2021 What a stupid question, of course they won't carry 3 catchers? So who is the odd man out?
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted June 30, 2021 Posted June 30, 2021 So who is the odd man out? Not sure, that wasn't the question. Jays can still move a catcher or option one of DJ or Kirk, they aren't going to carry 3 catchers, stupid question.
Sorrow Verified Member Posted June 30, 2021 Posted June 30, 2021 I'd like Kirk to start in the MLB if he's catching 3/5 starters and if you're going to platoon someone with McGuire send Kirk to AAA so he has everyday at bats. Also Payamps and Castro optioned Beasley and Matz activated.
wilko Old-Timey Member Posted June 30, 2021 Posted June 30, 2021 Today's Jays/Mariners game is free on YouTube:
Terminator Old-Timey Member Posted June 30, 2021 Posted June 30, 2021 This appears to put me in the minority but if we have to option one I'm not sure Kirk is the right choice. Steamer projects him for a 118 wRC+ and to have more overall WAR on a per game basis moving forward. The dude can (probably) hit. Jansen is turning into a glove only guy which will play but at this point it's not a given that he's even any better than McGuire. I still think Jansen has a higher ceiling than McGuire so my preference would be to trade McGuire for a useful/rosterable reliever if that can be done, failing that I'd option Jansen.
Terminator Old-Timey Member Posted June 30, 2021 Posted June 30, 2021 Also Payamps and Castro optioned Beasley and Matz activated. Not quite. -Matz and Cimber added -Castro and Payamps optioned -Beasley DFA'd
Jimcanuck Old-Timey Member Posted June 30, 2021 Posted June 30, 2021 Not quite. -Matz and Cimber added -Castro and Payamps optioned -Beasley DFA'd Rotation is quite good now: Ryu Ray Manoah Matz Stripling A guy like Graveman from Mariners would be ideal to strengthen the BP.

Jimcanuck Old-Timey Member Posted June 30, 2021 Posted June 30, 2021 Answer your pms bro You renewing your effort to get a share of Bregman? I don't see a trade offer in BBDL though. It would take quite a bit more than Riley Greene.
Krylian Old-Timey Member Posted June 30, 2021 Posted June 30, 2021 Kirk > Groshans Groshans hasn't done much in pro ball other than look handsome. Kirk, the opposite is true. I'll take the little meatball who demolished the entire minor league ladder over the Adonis who can't stay on the field, thanks. Groshans value is higher
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted July 1, 2021 Posted July 1, 2021 Man, at least the Rays, Yankees and Stros lost.
BigCecil Old-Timey Member Posted July 1, 2021 Posted July 1, 2021 Need to Win 49/84 to get to 90 = .580 ball Fangraphs = 47% odds we make playoffs. Calling it. More tweaks are made as we get to deadline. We play .560 ish ball. Close but no cigar to wildcard. Plus offense, decent rotation, not great D, s*** pen we couldn't get addressed until it was too late, and a s*** manager who made s*** choices with said s*** pen.

Alternatively, barely sneak in as WC2. Game goes like this: Score 3 runs in the first inning. Ryu coasts for 6 innings. Charlie uses Dolis in the 7th, gives up 2 runs. 3-2 Chatwood in the 8th, gives up 1. Tie game. Pearson in the 9th, clean inning. Jays don’t score in the top of the 10th. Charlie uses Saucedo for the 10th, gives up a walk and then a double in the gap. Jays lose.

Another run of wins and some health and we have a real shot. I predict Atkins makes a major move where we ship a good chunk of prospect capital out.

Chapman gives up a grand salami.I love it...eases the pain of the Jays loss. On the other hand, we could have gained another game on Tampa and NY with 1 key hit.

Krylian Old-Timey Member Posted July 1, 2021 Posted July 1, 2021 Are you worried about Ryu at this point? Yes/No. Depends on what you consider worried. Worried that he won't be Top 5 in the Cy Young voting again? Ya. Worried that he's turning into a pumpkin? Not really.
