I think they keep Davis and send down one of the arms. His pinch running ability is too important to have, especially with the extra inning rule being as it is. I'm gonna ignore the time he got picked off since it was because of a balk lol.

One could argue that Espinal would be a suitable pinch runner in extras also. You don't necessarily need base stealing skills in that scenario. I think the added infield defence Espinal brings outweighs the smaller edge Davis brings defensively, especially when we'll probably see Biggio in the outfield or at DH more often.

Tellez, Jansen, Panik and one of LGJ/Teo/Grich/etc... that's a damn good bench. Now that I think about it, it will be Espinal.

When Teo is back, then I agree it will be Espinal. Davis should be the one who gets sent down today or when Springer is back.

One of Grich/Teo/Gurriel will be the DH if Tellez is on the bench. That only leaves 3 position players on the bench so I think we'll keep one of Davis/Espinal.

 

Seems like they are trying to get Biggio more time in the OF. If that's the case I could see Panik playing more than we'd like against righties with Biggio kicked out to the OF. If that's the case we'd need Espinal on the bench more than Davis.

Whether it was planned or not, there is a lot less pressure coming off Vladdy's 3 HR game than it was before where he was expected to single handedly save this offense.

Its confusing why they wouldn’t just wait until Friday. But I’m assuming he will DH tonight and get back in CF Friday if everything goes well. Assuming he will DH day games after night games.
