As a Jay he hit one of the hardest dingers I have ever seen. I remember him for that first. All this other BS second.

Video or it didn't happen.

Well this is interesting and candid, he's such a self absorbed douche-bag, never liked him and it's apparent he's still the same...

Yes, Shea... you are an *******.

He's annoying and high strung but I don't see what's so bad about that guy. I'd rather deal with someone like this who is upfront and does what he says rather than some lazy liar who makes a bunch of promises to do stuff and never does them. There's a lot more of those type of people than Hillenbrand types.

Yeah I don't see a lot wrong with what he said. I can easily see how that can kind of personality can wear on teams though.

Yeah he's on some s*** too, f*** the clubhouse must have hated him

Everywhere he played, buddy. That link is such click bait, he talked about Gibby for 30 seconds, glad he mentioned Gibbons is the best player manager out there, though. That was just full of cringe.

I don't remember much about the game, but it was the 2nd or 3rd inning and in the SkyDome, early in the season when I was still watching every second of every game. It was a Jose Canseco moon shot that we rewound and watched a few times. Shea was actually pretty decent for a year or two.

Pretty limited player. s*** in the field. 3.1 WAR in 7 seasons.

High opinion of himself though.

This is... a false dichotomy. Most people are way better to be around than Shea Hillenbrand types OR your "lazy liar" types, which both suck ass. It's not one or the other because the majority of people are neither.

The guy was then considered a clubhouse cancer, throughout his career and was s***, lol.

Sounds like Joltin Joe, with Toronto.

He was an all star one year. Not many MLB players do that.

Probably the obligatory lone representative of whatever team he was playing for, based on a good couple of early months.

He was a s*** player, mate.

Think we can get *anything* for McGuire???

Any chance he clears waivers?

He might not be worth the negative local press coverage, so yes he could clear.

Dude "got busted jerking off in a parking lot" is a funny footnote, it's not going to impact his value.

Yes, I'm just f***ing around, myself.

So what do people think of Merryweather as starter vs bullpen guy?

I think if he didn't have any injury concerns that I'd want him to try to be a starter for sure but because of that, I really want him to stay in the pen. Now I'm assuming being a bullpen arm vs starter should be easier on the arm since you'll throw less innings. Although with the amount of times he has to ramp up, it might not be a huge difference.

I don't think this is up for discussion at this point, lol

I think that he could be a successful starter, but it's probably not the best path for him at this point.maybe we can get some starts from him as an opener for 2 or 3 innings.

Whatever the high performance team determines will allow him to throw the most innings. When healthy, he's dominant. I suspect he'll stay in the pen, throwing high leverage innings.

I would love to see him as an opener, and gradually work his innings up. He's been a starter his whole career, and relieving isn't necessarily going to keep him healthier than starting (probable, but can't say for sure.)

And why not?? When Yates returns we have 3 legit closers.

Turning 1 of them into a starter might not be such a bad idea.

Unless they wanna go with 1 closer and 2 setup guys
