I loathe the auto-runner in any scenario. It really does need to be gone. I understand they want to keep games from going very long, but I'd rather see an anti-climactic tie than meddlesome nonsense.

That said, I have no issue with 7-inning double-headers. THAT's the change I would keep, not the automatic runner (made even worse by these terrible RP-switching limitations). Such, such ********.

16 inning games are good for a headline the next day. Outside of that, they’re bad in just about every other way for players and fans (average ones at least)

Ben Zobrist story is pretty funny. Wife is mad and wants an extra $4m in the divorce because he got depressed and didn’t want to play when he found out she was banging their pastor lol

He should ask her for an additional 4M for making him depressed by banging their pastor.

Yes

You wreck your bullpen and sometimes the best days starter or a position player ends up pitching

Yeah if anyone wants the cliff notes, he only played 1/3 of his $12m contract. So he left $8m on the table because of the wife banging the pastor and so the wife wants her half of that money he should’ve made lol

As do I... terrible.

As for the kids, they’ll be ok. Divorced parents is a pretty normal thing and so it’s a bonus when both of them are multi-millionaires.

I've actually heard of this. One spouse (the earner) figures out a divorce is coming so they stop making money on purpose just to spite the other. Half of nothing is nothing. Or they just make much less on purpose.

You clearly don't understand what s*** like this can do to kids.

He buys his wives, I feel he don't care about kids but his own.

I’m a Muslim douche. Have to get married and not date. So there’s only so many ways you can do that. Also I have soft spot for kids when there’s a reason. There isn’t in this case from what we know. Now if parents are terrible people besides their poor marital choices, sure. We don’t know that.

Anyways going to bed. Not spamming anymore tonight. I’ll read your nonsensical drunk posts tomorrow

Ain’t nothing about that story is funny. I feel bad for the guy. Ended a very solid career on a sour note and by all accounts he seems like a standup guy. In some ways he was the sabermetric poster boy for his era and he deserves better.

Here's an idea. Instead of having all of these workarounds like phantom runners and minimum batters faced, get to the heart of the problem. Put roster limitations on pitchers. The 1993 team had 16 pitchers on the roster all year. Just past half way through the year, the Jays have already had 31 pitchers. I know it's a bit of an outlier with injuries. But 2016, which was the absolute poster child of starting pitcher health, had 27.

All of these problems that are in baseball right now revolve around teams manipulating dozens of jobber relievers who might be released by the time they hit arbitration, but can average 10K/9 at max effort in short bursts and minimal workload. Put a hard cap of 20 pitchers on each roster for the year. A team hits that cap and gets an injury? Too bad, you're putting your shortstop on the mound. Should have planned things out better. This will incentivize teams to balance velocity and performance with longevity. Every reliever in the pen should be reasonably expected to carry 70-100 innings in a year. Forcing every team (except the ones with ACTUAL good pens, not just manipulating garbage) to carry 3 relievers that average a 4.50 ERA over 250 combined innings will help end extra inning games faster.

This is exactly it. Maybe limit to 11 or 12 on the 25.

1. Pitchers will have to learn to pace themselves and we go back to 260 inning aces, 200 inning starters become routine, a few 80-100 inning relievers. The boys will have to pace themselves though.

2. Ks go down.

3. Here is the tricky part. A 270 inning starter pacing himself may give up 80 homeruns. So deaden the ball until that becomes 30.

OK. There you go. Fixed.

Going to just post once as to not derail. But I don’t get this, you’re either a Muslim or you’re not. This is what I went through first years. I was always able to understand this while dudes like you (and the majority) don’t. It’s like being a Christian and being gay. You can’t just undo what the religion is clear about. Just say you believe in God and not all the particulars of revealed religion. In Islam you still go to heaven like this, while as a Christian you don’t. Just say you believe in God and call it a day. Why waste your time with all the daily prayers, fasting, etc

I’m not one of the thinkers that to be a Muslim you need to turn back the clock 1300 years like the Taliban or something. Some things are clearly open to a more modern interpretation (place in society for women outside kitchen as example) and Islam accounts for this if you know it. Premarital sex is not one of them.

I wasn't exactly suggesting that far. Just maybe removing the gamesmanship where teams get 100 IP of 110 K/2.50 ERA performance over five different pitchers. If you want that performance, you're going to have to get it out of one guy AND pay for it. Either through player development or the free agent market. Otherwise, stick with 250 IP of replacement level relief over three pitchers if you want league minimum contracts.
