Spanky__99 Old-Timey Member Posted July 12, 2021 Posted July 12, 2021 Just brutal. This news really saddens me. He seems like such a fun kid. What does this mean, no more ball in 2021 for sure...but I wonder if he misses some 2022? And just before the ASG??? Just f***ing terrible. He'll be ready next year.
BTS Community Moderator Posted July 12, 2021 Posted July 12, 2021 The All Star break is f***ing garbage.
Dick_Pole Old-Timey Member Posted July 12, 2021 Posted July 12, 2021 Between this and the illegal substances ordeal it's about time Rich Gossage chimes in about player etiquette. I draw the line at players disrobing on field.
connorp Old-Timey Member Posted July 12, 2021 Posted July 12, 2021 https://www.yahoo.com/sports/stephen-smith-shohei-ohtani-dont-183706596.html Steve Smith saying Ohtani is bad for baseball because he doesn’t know how to speak English (or uses an interpreter) Lucky Steve isn’t white, that would prob be a suspension at the very least
RobinThicc Verified Member Posted July 12, 2021 Posted July 12, 2021 Brutal take from Stephen A. He just apologized on twitter.
Brownie19 Old-Timey Member Posted July 13, 2021 Posted July 13, 2021 Stephen A Smith is complete trash. Always has been. It's embarrassing they still let him on TV. What a ****.

The story is old as f*** and you just brought it up again by showing off your jiggly body. Jesus dude, lighten up. He's just having a little fun. I thought it was funny
Brownie19 Old-Timey Member Posted July 13, 2021 Posted July 13, 2021 Commissioner Rob Manfred told reporters at the 2021 MLB All-Star Game on Tuesday that the runner on second extra innings rule and seven-inning doubleheaders are "much less likely to be a part of our permanent landscape" than other recent changes. Manfred added that those rule changes were implemented during the pandemic-shorted 2020 campaign with COVID-19 health and safety reasons in mind and are less likely to remain moving forward. It appears that an avalanche of unearned runs in extra innings and the era of unofficial no-hitters will come to an end at some point in the near future.

I'm not in favour of either of those rules.

I don't actually mind the 7 inning double headers necessarily, but the extra innings rule is horrible.
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted July 13, 2021 Posted July 13, 2021 50 years from now these seasons will look so odd in BBREF history Even more so than 1994-1995 do now. Except at least we're having World Series winners.

Those doubleheaders arent so bad as a fan wanting a bigger bang for their buck when going to a game. We dont need to have any in schedule but for make-up games only.

glory Old-Timey Member Posted July 13, 2021 Posted July 13, 2021 I am in the minority for liking both rules. The 7 inning games tend to breeze by, which makes two games in a day a lot easier to get through, and so far (I don't have any numbers on this) it seems like most extra inning games are ending at a reasonable inning rather than going 19 or 20. Maybe compromise and start the runner on 2nd in the 11th inning to give each team one shot at it conventionally, but shortening extra inning games to me is a good thing.
King Old-Timey Member Posted July 13, 2021 Posted July 13, 2021 Lol the Will Craig/Javier Baez blunder at 1B led to Craig signing in Korea. That's a crazy amount of shame
Virgil_Hiltz Verified Member Posted July 13, 2021 Posted July 13, 2021 MLB hasn't scheduled DH's in years I thought? I like the fact of giving the players a regular scheduled day off and not filling an off-day up with a postponed game. If it wasnt for lost income (for owners), Im sure the teams and players would like the 7 inning double dippers as well if it means a few extra days off.
Spanky__99 Old-Timey Member Posted July 13, 2021 Posted July 13, 2021 They did last year I believe. They did? I thought they went obsolete... IDK

That rarely happens save for the first few weeks, but I'm sure the players don't mind the double dippers, I didn't mind having to see your team not burn through a billion relievers in a day. I don't mind that rule, not a fan of the guy on 2nd, maybe pick an arbitrary inning like the 11th inning would make sense. It's all moot now sounds like those rules are out the window. Play Ball...
Spanky__99 Old-Timey Member Posted July 13, 2021 Posted July 13, 2021 Man, even seeing these s***** uni's live now, it's even worse. Talk about dropping the ball. Ughh... Also, it might rain, lol.
Grant77 Old-Timey Member Posted July 13, 2021 Author Posted July 13, 2021 I just saw the full AL roster. How the hell is Gregory Soto more deserving than Jordan Romano? Aroldis Chapmen also isn't deserving. Tim Mayza has arguably been better than both lefties.
