BTS Community Moderator Posted June 26, 2021 Posted June 26, 2021 Mike Soroka re-tore his Achilles walking to the ballpark. Yikes. Hate to say it but that’s probably a wrap for his career. Jesus that sucks. AA probably should be looking to add a frontline starter to their rotation. It's really just Anderson, Morton, and Fried that they can rely on right now, and Morton is old as dirt and Fried might just be a mid-rotation guy.

The stalled development of their pitching prospects has been a bit painful. Anderson worked out and there is Fried, but a lot of corpses and question marks after them. Soroka, Davidson, Toussaint, Muller, Wilson, Wright, Newcomb, Ynoa... lots of failures to launch or stay healthy so far.
Scion Verified Member Posted June 26, 2021 Posted June 26, 2021 Yeah fWAR is based on FIP. Ray's HR rate drive the high FIP. It's frustrating, and I believe fWAR for pitchers should incorporate xFIP a bit more, which normallizes the HR rate. But doesn't incorporating predictive metrics kind of defeat the purpose of WAR, which is to highlight how much value a player has provided and not how much value they are likely to provide in the future?

Spanky__99 Old-Timey Member Posted June 27, 2021 Posted June 27, 2021 Ruh-Roh... Dinelson Lamet left with an arm injury.
Laika Community Moderator Posted June 27, 2021 Posted June 27, 2021 The new, clean Gerrit Cole is getting his ass kicked by Boston today. Imagine if he instantly turns into a non Ace, on that contract.

BTS Community Moderator Posted June 27, 2021 Posted June 27, 2021 Cole sure has looked a lot like Pittsburgh Cole over the last few starts.

vaff Verified Member Posted June 27, 2021 Posted June 27, 2021 Wander 0 for his last 18 AB Just shows how tough the MLB is. Wander probably hasn’t had a stretch like that in his life.
connorp Old-Timey Member Posted June 27, 2021 Posted June 27, 2021 Wander 0 for his last 18 AB I was going to post that you needed to put your boner back in your pants for now looks like
connorp Old-Timey Member Posted June 27, 2021 Posted June 27, 2021 I’m actually going to catch a couple Tampa games in Buffalo coming up. Hope he actually does good but Jays still win obv
Spanky__99 Old-Timey Member Posted June 27, 2021 Posted June 27, 2021 Rookie SP Kranick making his debut against the Cards, perfect through 5 innings at 50 pitches, the skies open up. Tough break, kid.
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted June 28, 2021 Posted June 28, 2021 Ohtani today 1 walk 1 double 1 triple 1 home run
Spanky__99 Old-Timey Member Posted June 28, 2021 Posted June 28, 2021 I'd say he broke his ankle and tore lots of ligaments in his ankle and knee.
max silver Old-Timey Member Posted June 28, 2021 Posted June 28, 2021 I'd say he broke his ankle and tore lots of ligaments in his ankle and knee. That's easily the worst outfield collision I've ever seen. I have a hard time seeing how this guy can return to the outfield after this wreck, but I'm really pulling for him to fully recover. It's been a totally f***ing awful couple of days for young Canadian ballplayers, with Soroka retearing his achilles and Naylor's leg being decimated.
Krylian Old-Timey Member Posted June 28, 2021 Posted June 28, 2021 Wander 0 for his last 18 AB 0 for 18 without enhanced spin rates to deal with He sux.

Francona post game interview last night said he was in hospital being "treated for a broken bone" No more specific than that
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted June 28, 2021 Posted June 28, 2021 Hector Santiago first pitcher to be ejected after a glove check
Ray Verified Member Posted June 28, 2021 Posted June 28, 2021 Soroka re-injured his achilles (will be out until at least midseason 2022), and now Naylor with an ankle fracture. Tough week for Canadian baseball.

glory Old-Timey Member Posted June 28, 2021 Posted June 28, 2021 Apparently Garrett Richards is not even a big leaguer without sticky stuff. Seeing pitchers get exposed is the best thing about this sticky stuff saga.
