TwistedLogic Old-Timey Member Posted June 23, 2021 Posted June 23, 2021 Pretty interesting stat. Since the crackdown on sticky substances began, the Blue Jays are one of just three teams that have actually seen an increase in spin rate. The difference is obviously negligible (+13 RPM means nothing) but the big thing is that they haven't dropped at all. That makes me wonder if the Blue Jays on an organizational level saw the MLB's warnings early in the year and decided to have most of the staff pitch without any help from substances to get ahead of the curve and make that adjustment earlier on. If that's true, the Jays might have an advantage for the next few months.

I'm surprised that a team like the Dodgers was caught so unprepared.

He’s been the beneficiary of 2 triple plays in the last few weeks, could easily have 2 more blown saves. Love to see him stink it up
BCZ Verified Member Posted June 24, 2021 Posted June 24, 2021 He didn't get kicked out of the game for arguing the strike call. He got kicked out of the game because the umpire said something to provoke him and he flipped out. He was walking off the field when they initially called the strike. Yeah but the whole situation was exacerbated because Votto is a complete hothead and wouldn't shut his mouth. It was 100% a swing, like not even a debate if you watch the slow mo. Shut your mouth Votto. I'm all for players arguing ump calls if the call was wrong but it's just annoying as f*** when the ump was right to begin with.

TwistedLogic Old-Timey Member Posted June 24, 2021 Posted June 24, 2021 The All-Star game will no longer have players wearing their home team jerseys. Nike is introducing the All-Star game jersey concept they use in the NBA. Jays fans are pissed there's an American flag on the Blue Jays variant, lmao.
Laika Community Moderator Posted June 24, 2021 Posted June 24, 2021 That's not a good look. I wouldn't buy that for $1

I've always thought MLB needed to add unique team uniforms/shoes for the AS game, one that caters more to younger people since it would make the game at least look more appealing to that demo, but the above isn't it. That's not good at all. As far as the American flag on the Jays jersey, it's appropriate this season.
Ray Verified Member Posted June 24, 2021 Posted June 24, 2021 Too early to call the Jake Cronenworth trade a loss for the Rays? He's on a 5.3 fWAR pace this season.

This looks like a soccer, or possibly a polo jersey. It's gross and I hate it.
JaysAllMighty Old-Timey Member Posted June 24, 2021 Posted June 24, 2021 Wearing their home jerseys was a tradition, I hate this new s***.
connorp Old-Timey Member Posted June 24, 2021 Posted June 24, 2021 What’s going on with the edge of the sleeves?
connorp Old-Timey Member Posted June 24, 2021 Posted June 24, 2021 What’s going on with the edge of the sleeves? It’s like the Jersey/polo combo wasn’t enough so they tossed in a Hawaiian shirt to boot
Spanky__99 Old-Timey Member Posted June 24, 2021 Posted June 24, 2021 Schwarber with two more dingers 21 on the season he's been unconscious.

TwistedLogic Old-Timey Member Posted June 25, 2021 Posted June 25, 2021 It's ironic that some baseball writers have been saying that the Blue Jays will look for a lefty bat at the deadline and that Kyle Schwarber could be a prime trade target, and now Schwarber himself is carrying the Nationals up the standings and putting them in a position where both himself and the Jays top rotation target in Max Scherzer will likely become unavailable. Guy has 8 homers in 5 games and 11 in 13 since sliding into the leadoff spot. Absolutely insane tear.
