Jimcanuck Old-Timey Member Posted June 15, 2021 Posted June 15, 2021 It hurts me to say, you're right. You sold me on Canario then I delved into him some more, and got hooked, lol. I was floored by that trade. Logan Gilbert, holy s***.
Spanky__99 Old-Timey Member Posted June 15, 2021 Posted June 15, 2021 At least your dynasty ace didn’t light the league on fire, blow out his elbow, have TJS, light the league on fire again, and then die in a boating accident. I SEEN SOME s***. Dude, I've suppressed those thoughts, what are you doing to me?

"I just threw 80 something innings and you just told me I can't use anything. I have to change everything," he told reporters, including Tricia Whitaker of Bally Sports Florida. "I truly believe 100 percent that's why I got hurt. I'm frustrated MLB doesn't understand. You can't just tell us to use nothing. It's crazy."

Benito Verified Member Posted June 15, 2021 Posted June 15, 2021 Glasnow's a great talent, but he sounds like an entitled, no personal fault kind of guy. It didn't sit well with me either when he insinuated the Jays were stealing signs as the reason why they hit him well last time out. But this theory of the cause for his injury is so cringe.

Are MLB pitchers the biggest complainers/douches in any sport? Seriously, complaining that they can’t cheat anymore? If someone batflips off me I have the right to break their ribs? He looked at me funny so I’m throwing at his head next time? Absolute insanity Also, they’re still allowed to use Rosin unless I missed something right?
glory Old-Timey Member Posted June 15, 2021 Posted June 15, 2021 Glasnow's elbow would have never exploded had he still been allowed to use sticky goo/rosin/sunscreen on his hands. Seems legit.

Yeah..he rubs me the wrong way too. I had a big eyeroll when I heard his injury theories. Stick to baseball, you're not a doctor.

Well Holy s***, We can now tell Glasnow that if the league hadnt of clamped down on sign stealing, Springer wouldnt have his Right quad strain injury as well. Glasnow can not be that stupid can he?

From MLBTR: “Do it in the offseason, give us a chance to adjust to it. But I just threw 80-something, 70-whatever innings, and then you just told me I can’t use anything in the middle of the year? I had to change everything I’d been doing the entire season. Everything, out of the window, I had to start doing something completely new." He has a point about making a change midseason increases the risk of injury, as it can f*** with a pitcher's mechanics.

I don't believe that his elbow would still be intact today if MLB had allowed him to continue cheating.

Jimcanuck Old-Timey Member Posted June 15, 2021 Posted June 15, 2021 I don't believe that his elbow would still be intact today if MLB had allowed him to continue cheating. Who knows. Could be just coincidental timing, could be causal at least in part. My post was mainly to point out that the CBS reporting was missing important context to Glasnow's comments.

The rule didn't change. Tyler and his cheater friends made decisions to cheat, and they carried risks like this whether they appreciated it or not

Tyler and his cheater friends made decisions to cheat, and they carried risks like this whether they appreciated it or not No I understand that. But baseball was aware of what was going on, and didn't enforce the rule, and suddenly decides to in the middle of the season. Blame doesnt rest entirely with the players.
Grant77 Old-Timey Member Posted June 16, 2021 Author Posted June 16, 2021 Pitchers were told before the season that the league was going to crack down on foreign substances. Now they did and pitchers are complaining? They have had plenty of time to adapt. The midseason argument holds no water at all. Blame does rest entirely with the players that are cheating and didn't stop when they were told that the rule would be enforced. I have no sympathy that that clown Glasnow.

It became a big PR issue recently, kind of organically. League had to do something.
TheHurl Site Manager Posted June 16, 2021 Posted June 16, 2021 It is kind of interesting that both the Jays named as "cheaters" have not been very good. I don't buy into the safety stuff they are trying to claim now though as it was 3 or 4 guys using a substance that had fastballs get away from them and injure hitters.

Safety thing is not a now claim. The below is from March 2021: “Pitchers have been using stuff for many, many years. At some point it’s a good thing because there are a lot of pitchers who go out there and sweat tremendously. You don’t want to see anyone get hurt,” said Washington Nationals Manager Dave Martinez, who indicated he hopes the sport can strike a balance between allowing pitchers to maintain grip without gaining too large an advantage over hitters. “I’m more about keeping guys healthy,” he added. “When you get a guy throwing a 100-mph fastball and can’t hold on to the baseball, that kind of gets scary for a hitter and everybody.” If experienced MLB people have been raising the safety issue, chances are its a real concern.

Who is the other? Dolis?
TheHurl Site Manager Posted June 16, 2021 Posted June 16, 2021 I know of Chatwood. Who is the other? Dolis? Bergen. Can we post tiktok's here? I'm not about to research that. But if you are on TikTok go check out Hey_Commy he has video evidence of hundreds of pitchers (and catchers...Gary Sanchez). Bergen is the only Jay he has.

I'm just saying that it's probably a bigger safety issue using over not using. Genesis Cabrera had stuff on his forearm when he hit Bryce. Same when Pillar was hit. Vince V when he hit that pitcher too.
Spanky__99 Old-Timey Member Posted June 16, 2021 Posted June 16, 2021 Bauer's going hard in the paint now on MLB, lol
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted June 16, 2021 Posted June 16, 2021 So Glasnow is blaming his blown ligament on NOT using spider jizz for ONE game? GTFO
King Old-Timey Member Posted June 16, 2021 Posted June 16, 2021 I know he sucks but there is something sweet about Pujols making an immediate impact with the Dodgers. Guy is running a 131 wRC+ for them.
L54 Old-Timey Member Posted June 16, 2021 Posted June 16, 2021 Lots of message board MD’s in this thread lol. Of course removing a tacky substance from the fingertips that are supposed to rotate a 5 oz baseball at RPM’s north of 2000 is going to create a brand new stress on the flexors that protect the elbow. MLB dropped the ball again. Manfred is a clown and is embarrassing the league.

MLB dropped the ball again. Manfred is a clown and is embarrassing the league. If all of that is true, then Glasnow hurt himself because he decided to cheat. Everyone knew coming into the season that the league wanted to crack down on illegal substances. He had plenty of time in spring training to prepare. The only sympathy I would have is if he was pressured to do it by the team.
