I just saw on Twitter that deGrom's k/9 is higher than his pitches per inning. He's also the only pitcher ever to give up 1 ER or fewer in his first 9 starts of the season.

 

If he stays healthy we might be witnessing the best pitching season of all-time.

Have they? Going from would-be whistleblower to the foremost culprit of substance tampering is a bit of a tough look. He’s no more guilty than Verlander, Cole, etc, but he had the bad sense to turn himself into a hypocrite, and he’s already a colossal douche.

I'm glad he did, and got paid using it. The commissioner's made the league a laughing stock to educated fans and casuals a like.

That’s... not what happened at all. He blew the whistle on the entire thing, and then started using substance just to prove a point and bring it all to light.

 

I hate the guy, but he is definitely responsible for the recent crackdown on substances. And that’s a positive IMO.

Yeah Bauer is taking a massive W here. He may be a massive tool but he's not an idiot.

I think Bauer's new spin rate is still higher than his early career. So he switched from the A+ goop to the regular goop while other pitchers might go straight nothing.

 

I would buy that he stopped using it completely. MLB is trying to make him the scape goat. I think he knows they'll be watching him more closely than any other player.

Yeah, Bauer is actually helping baseball here. He wanted MLB to police it, they didn’t, so he proved a point and got the highest aav ever in the process. Guys like Cole are much bigger heels in this saga.
