DigitalRock Old-Timey Member Posted September 23, 2020 Posted September 23, 2020 I picked the wrong day to quit drinking You done f***ed up.
gruber92 Old-Timey Member Posted September 23, 2020 Posted September 23, 2020 I'm pretty sure, but not positive that it does get deducted. We could save ourselves 563.5K! I'd rather see a Patrick Murphy type in the majors next year than Roark. I'm pretty sure it doesn't get deducted but I could be wrong. Murphy on the 26 man instead of Roark is a no brainer but there is a <1% chance Shatkins releases him. Our only hope is to trade for another bad contract, even if its $3-4M more. We can afford the extra money if it means a bit more value.
gruber92 Old-Timey Member Posted September 23, 2020 Posted September 23, 2020 I think we'd be better off starting Davis in CF for the playoffs and DH one of Grichuk or Teo.
bones10 Old-Timey Member Posted September 23, 2020 Posted September 23, 2020 Am I crazy, or is Anderson clearly better than Roark and should have had his start.
Jays24 Old-Timey Member Posted September 23, 2020 Posted September 23, 2020 Am I crazy, or is Anderson clearly better than Roark and should have had his start. Its a tie, both suck. Not sure you can put Anderson out there after last game against the same team
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted September 23, 2020 Posted September 23, 2020 Cole vs Roark I had already counted this as a loss so I am not disappoint
Jays24 Old-Timey Member Posted September 23, 2020 Posted September 23, 2020 Just take Gurriel out man. No reason to risk it here...
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted September 23, 2020 Posted September 23, 2020 Bringing Roark to face Cole is akin to bringing a knife to a gunfight
saskjayfan Old-Timey Member Posted September 23, 2020 Posted September 23, 2020 Just take Gurriel out man. No reason to risk it here... what did I miss? Please don't tell me Gurriel got hurt.
dineke Old-Timey Member Posted September 23, 2020 Posted September 23, 2020 Bringing Roark to face Cole is akin to bringing a knife to a gunfight And then you accidently stab yourself with the knife.

gruber92 Old-Timey Member Posted September 23, 2020 Posted September 23, 2020 Looks like we caught a break with the Yankee line up malfunction. Britton forced into the game, hopefully we make him work and make him unavailable tomorrow.
Orgfiller Old-Timey Member Posted September 23, 2020 Posted September 23, 2020 I think we'd be better off starting Davis in CF for the playoffs and DH one of Grichuk or Teo. Grichuk is a very good defender. Why on earth would you DH him?
Brownie19 Old-Timey Member Posted September 23, 2020 Posted September 23, 2020 Grichuk is a very good defender. Why on earth would you DH him? Good defender, poor hitter. Let's DH him!
Dokken Verified Member Posted September 23, 2020 Posted September 23, 2020 Bringing Roark to face Cole is akin to bringing a knife to a gunfight Specifically a jackknife with 1.5 inch blade versus a 12 gauge shotgun.
Stangstag Old-Timey Member Posted September 23, 2020 Posted September 23, 2020 I think we'd be better off starting Davis in CF for the playoffs and DH one of Grichuk or Teo. I’d rather have Shaw/Someone at 1B and Guerrero DH

Like Montoyo said, this guy just needs to hit 'enough' because his defense could be Kiermaier level (not sure about the arm strength). So I wonder what enough would be offensively to warrant playing him regularly. I guess it depends on the other alternatives for CF (currently all suck big time) and how potent the rest of the lineup is (could be pretty good, especially without a black hole at C and depending what happens at 3B). ETA: not that I trust Charlie's judgement but even a stopped clock ......
RobinThicc Verified Member Posted September 23, 2020 Posted September 23, 2020 Still Roark for next year...yikes

As long as you can handle yourself and get on base with stellar D, you'll have a job. I'd like to see what Davis can do.
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted September 23, 2020 Posted September 23, 2020 lol... you guys are f***ed.

TheDragon Verified Member Posted September 23, 2020 Posted September 23, 2020 Still Roark for next year...yikes Dump him. Indicators were pointing to him declining and clearly those indicators were accurate. He sucks.
Stangstag Old-Timey Member Posted September 23, 2020 Posted September 23, 2020 Dump him. Indicators were pointing to him declining and clearly those indicators were accurate. He sucks. I mean i'd keep him around for the first few weeks of next season in case of injuries. But yeah dump after that
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted September 23, 2020 Posted September 23, 2020 I think Roark might bring value in a normal season, concerning health and maybe a dead cat bounce back... I don't see them cutting ties anytime soon, or not!
gruber92 Old-Timey Member Posted September 23, 2020 Posted September 23, 2020 Grichuk is a very good defender. Why on earth would you DH him? Yeah I know he's a decent defender but more suitable for RF. CF is crazy important on the defensive side and Grichuk doesn't make those catches Davis made last night early on, especially the second catch. I don't think I have to tell you how important it is on all fronts, especially on the pitching staff. The only question is if Davis can continue having decent at bats like he's having. DHing Teo could be an option with Grichuk in RF.

If Davis hits enough to start in CF then Grich plays RF and Teo DH's....or, if Rowdy gets back and hits like he did before the injury, Tellez/Vlad will play 1st/DH and Teo will play RF with Grich on the bench (or in CF).

Well, Grichuk has been playing like a bench player since the start of 2019. Yeah they should bench him. Sad!
