Deadpool Old-Timey Member Posted August 31, 2020 Posted August 31, 2020 Montoyo: We're going to put Biggio 7th to help turn the lineup around. Between Drury and Panik, for optimum wastefulness.
Ray Verified Member Posted August 31, 2020 Posted August 31, 2020 Griffin Conine is going back to Miami, according to Craig Mish.
wilko Old-Timey Member Posted August 31, 2020 Posted August 31, 2020 Hopefully Montoyo has that conversation with Drury telling him to go home.
Brownie19 Old-Timey Member Posted August 31, 2020 Posted August 31, 2020 Griffin Conine is going back to Miami, according to Craig Mish. Damn - that was going to be my guess! I think I'm OK with it. Not sure Conine ever makes enough contact to contribute at the ML level.
BlueRocky Old-Timey Member Posted August 31, 2020 Posted August 31, 2020 Send Villar back! Send him back now!
Jays24 Old-Timey Member Posted August 31, 2020 Posted August 31, 2020 Hopefully Montoyo has that conversation with Drury telling him to go home. Trade him back to the Yankees for some disinfectants lol
BlueRocky Old-Timey Member Posted August 31, 2020 Posted August 31, 2020 Trade him back to the Yankees for some disinfectants lol Send him back for JA Happ, they’re not playing him anyways.
MunenoriKawasakiMVP Verified Member Posted August 31, 2020 Posted August 31, 2020 Conine suxx. He already Ks 35% of the time against s***** single A pitchers. He'd need to cut that K rate in half to even be interesting.
Ray Verified Member Posted August 31, 2020 Posted August 31, 2020 Send Villar back! Send him back now! 36% K rate in A ball as a 22 year old. I think that’s worth giving up for somebody who could contribute to a playoff run.
Slade Old-Timey Member Posted August 31, 2020 Author Posted August 31, 2020 I like Conine but I think that's pretty fair.
z3r0s Old-Timey Member Posted August 31, 2020 Posted August 31, 2020 got a soft spot for Conine, too bad.
wilko Old-Timey Member Posted August 31, 2020 Posted August 31, 2020 Send him back for JA Happ, they’re not paying him anyways. Fixed.
LGBJ29 Verified Member Posted August 31, 2020 Posted August 31, 2020 I'm fine with Conine going to be honest
BlueRocky Old-Timey Member Posted August 31, 2020 Posted August 31, 2020 Everytime I have a pre-season sleeper prospect, they get traded. First Cal Stevenson, now Griffin Conine. You’re sending him to the Marlins too, where his pops played and known as Mr. Marlin. Sigh.
Laika Community Moderator Posted August 31, 2020 Posted August 31, 2020 yeah IDGAF about Griffin Conine.
Jaysareus Verified Member Posted August 31, 2020 Posted August 31, 2020 That means Bichette is out for the year
Laika Community Moderator Posted August 31, 2020 Posted August 31, 2020 That means Bichette is out for the year Nah. They can stick Villar all over the place, even on the bench.
Jonn Old-Timey Member Posted August 31, 2020 Posted August 31, 2020 Conine is probably slightly better than a lottery ticket. Obviously has intriguing Lefty power but strikes out at an insane rate.
Ex Player Verified Member Posted August 31, 2020 Posted August 31, 2020 Conine had some impressive A-ball stats: https://www.baseball-reference.com/register/player.fcgi?id=conine000gri
Captain Adama Old-Timey Member Posted August 31, 2020 Posted August 31, 2020 Conine had some impressive A-ball stats: https://www.baseball-reference.com/register/player.fcgi?id=conine000gri 22 year old and a 36% K rate is not impressive.
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted August 31, 2020 Posted August 31, 2020 22 year old and a 36% K rate is not impressive. Yep. The power is irrelevant, that K rate will absolutely never play at higher levels.
Ex Player Verified Member Posted August 31, 2020 Posted August 31, 2020 22 year old and a 36% K rate is not impressive You dont think the rest is impressive?? 80 games, 22 HR's, 64 ribbies, .371 OBP and. 946 OPS?? Yep. The power is irrelevant, that K rate will absolutely never play at higher levels Unless he improves that part of his game
Captain Adama Old-Timey Member Posted August 31, 2020 Posted August 31, 2020 You dont think the rest is impressive?? 80 games, 22 HR's, 64 ribbies, .371 OBP and. 946 OPS?? No.
Jays24 Old-Timey Member Posted August 31, 2020 Posted August 31, 2020 No. Tough crowd. Hard to write off a prospect that fast lol.
Funky Verified Member Posted August 31, 2020 Posted August 31, 2020 Don’t mind the return. I am not naïve I know we’re not contenders for the world championship but we are down for the playoffs and it will do the young pups good to be around that kind of atmosphere. Happy with the moves made today without really losing anyone is a great way to go about it
Orgfiller Old-Timey Member Posted August 31, 2020 Posted August 31, 2020 Conine is probably slightly better than a lottery ticket. Obviously has intriguing Lefty power but strikes out at an insane rate. A big power, high strikeouts, old for his level player is exactly the definition of a lottery ticket in prospect terms.
Ryu In My House Verified Member Posted August 31, 2020 Posted August 31, 2020 I'm fine with Conine going to be honest Me, too. If he wasn't the son of a former MLB player, I wouldn't give two shits for him.
Ryu In My House Verified Member Posted August 31, 2020 Posted August 31, 2020 That means Bichette is out for the year No it doesn't. He's better than anyone we have on the bench.
Ex Player Verified Member Posted August 31, 2020 Posted August 31, 2020 Jays acquire Stripling as well: https://www.baseball-reference.com/players/s/stripro01.shtml I really like the wheeling and dealing Shapiro/Atkins are doing
