BlueRocky Old-Timey Member Posted August 28, 2020 Posted August 28, 2020 Every other GM: Hi Ross, can I help you? Ross Atkins: No thanks - just looking. *phone rings* Atkins: Hi Jerry I was wondering... Dipoto: Kyle Seager for PTBNL? Done. Atkins: No.. I was just.. Dipoto: You drive a hard bargain. Okay we’ll eat half the contract but you throw in Sean Reid-Foley.
bendera3 Verified Member Posted August 28, 2020 Posted August 28, 2020 Corporate Rogers cares I bet:) They may but I'd be interested on how they feel with the shortened season and expanded playoffs. If we do make the playoffs and extend our season they may be willing to open up the wallet a little bit considering that the Jays are basically free content for them.
L54 Old-Timey Member Posted August 28, 2020 Posted August 28, 2020 I would support a Kyle Seager acquisition. The cost would be low and the team can afford to take on some payroll.

Bturn2210 Verified Member Posted August 29, 2020 Posted August 29, 2020 Ross you f***! couldn't beat the offer of Barreto for La Stella? C'mon..La Stella was my number one target
43211234 Verified Member Posted August 29, 2020 Posted August 29, 2020 Am I missing something? Barreto sucks. Good deal for the Athletics imo I guess it's a bunch of years of a player able to play in the middle of the infield but meh
baubau Verified Member Posted August 29, 2020 Posted August 29, 2020 Barretto is a solid by low prospect - although I think there's a high probability he never becomes a ML regular. Who would have been comparable from the Jays? Espinal? But even then he was never as highly rated as Barretto.

Who would have been comparable from the Jays? Wow. Fangraphs is super high on him. 55 FV with plus bat. Do they actually update that? Understand he’s 24 and change but doesn’t look like it’s clicking obviously

Jonn Old-Timey Member Posted August 29, 2020 Posted August 29, 2020 Barreto has been a bust but maybe he figures it out with the Angels. He still has upside. Not sure we could have beat that trade.
Grant77 Old-Timey Member Posted August 29, 2020 Posted August 29, 2020 What do you guys think of Eduardo Escobar as a trade target? The Diamondbacks are starting to look like sellers and may want to move on from his contract and see what they have with Kevin Cron at 3B. Escobar is off to a terrible start, but the salary is reasonable and his underlying stats look decent.
bones10 Old-Timey Member Posted August 29, 2020 Posted August 29, 2020 I promise you, Atkins is looking at every position to upgrade, not just pitching and defensive upgrades. He may get nowhere, but he’s looking Every other GM: Hi Ross, can I help you? Ross Atkins: No thanks - just looking. Good thing I wasn't saying "the Jay's would never look at any batter ever no matter the price" but rather how Atkins was inevitably justifying not signing a big bat, where the f*** do you guys get your rhetoric?
saskjayfan Old-Timey Member Posted August 29, 2020 Posted August 29, 2020 White sox in on lynn and Bundy....We should be too! Might be the only arms available. Go get Cabrera or Seager while you're at it!

saskjayfan Old-Timey Member Posted August 29, 2020 Posted August 29, 2020 I just Bundy ranks 24% percentile on FB velo but 92% percentile hard hit%. About the spin I guess Fair points. Bundy scares me. Lynn is the guy I really want. He gives you a chance to win this year, and next year.
Laika Community Moderator Posted August 29, 2020 Posted August 29, 2020 Lynn has been a stud for a couple years. Very interested to see if the Rangers can get enough value for him
connorp Old-Timey Member Posted August 29, 2020 Posted August 29, 2020 (edited) Fair points. Bundy scares me. Lynn is the guy I really want. He gives you a chance to win this year, and next year. Idk. Obviously Lynn is much safer/better but he was just really good last year too so I imagine he’ll cost something of value. Really Jays make playoffs anyway so you’re talking few playoff games, if you can get Gausman/Bundy for some guys that’ll likely never play (impact I guess) in the majors, you’d have to consider I know there’s the extra year so I guess depends what cost is. glory Old-Timey Member Posted August 29, 2020 Posted August 29, 2020 Lynn would be a great target but the cost is going to be high.
saskjayfan Old-Timey Member Posted August 29, 2020 Posted August 29, 2020 Lynn would be a great target but the cost is going to be high. He's a quality pitcher with a very reasonable contract next year. It will be interesting to see how much they can get if they do trade him. I'd include Groshans in a deal. The rest of this board would not though...lol.

I would not handle it if Groshans turns into a stud for the next decade and we traded him for a mid 30s pitcher. Would be like the Syndergaard trade.

bones10 Old-Timey Member Posted August 29, 2020 Posted August 29, 2020 We're in on Lynn apparently, it's all over Twitter
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted August 29, 2020 Posted August 29, 2020 I can’t see Atkins giving up a better centrepiece than Moreno or maybe Kloff for 1.5 seasons of Lynn. This season is such a crapshoot, it wouldn’t make any sense to give up SWR or Groshans.

Will be interesting if it happens. I just want Atkins to buy all the players and give up nothing dammit!
BlueRocky Old-Timey Member Posted August 29, 2020 Posted August 29, 2020 1 season + 1 month of Lance Lynn is not worth top 5 prospect. That is all.
