Jonn Old-Timey Member Posted August 20, 2020 Posted August 20, 2020 I knew as soon as the #9 hitter got on it was GG’s. This Phillies lineup is to good.
BlueRocky Old-Timey Member Posted August 20, 2020 Posted August 20, 2020 I see we’re going 14 innings with 0 runs today?
glory Old-Timey Member Posted August 20, 2020 Posted August 20, 2020 Seriously, if the ump wants to call a strike on the outside pitch that is 2-3 inches off the plate for both sides, then I can live with that as long as he's consistent. But the curve ball down the F'n middle called a ball is insane.
Abomination Old-Timey Member Posted August 20, 2020 Posted August 20, 2020 Can we get a new umpire? This one has a manufacturing defect.
DigitalRock Old-Timey Member Posted August 20, 2020 Posted August 20, 2020 f*** this ump. Another ball over the middle called a ball.
BlueRocky Old-Timey Member Posted August 20, 2020 Posted August 20, 2020 Unwritten rule #38: We do not vocally discriminate against the visually impaired MLB workers union.
Jonn Old-Timey Member Posted August 20, 2020 Posted August 20, 2020 Its a better game when Strikes are called Strikes and Balls are called Balls.
Orgfiller Old-Timey Member Posted August 20, 2020 Posted August 20, 2020 Well Anderson can't buy a f***ing call out there. He's all over the corners.
glory Old-Timey Member Posted August 20, 2020 Posted August 20, 2020 Hopefully Montoyo politely discusses the strike zone with the umps later.
Abomination Old-Timey Member Posted August 20, 2020 Posted August 20, 2020 Well Anderson can't buy a f***ing call out there. He's all over the corners. He actually looks fairly good imo.
Jonn Old-Timey Member Posted August 20, 2020 Posted August 20, 2020 Anderson has been pretty good today and might end up with a s***** line because of the umpire.
Orgfiller Old-Timey Member Posted August 20, 2020 Posted August 20, 2020 He actually looks fairly good imo. Yeah pretty hard to have a good outing when you're making excellent pitches and the umpire gives you nothing. Anderson is getting screwed over badly. When I said he's all over the corners I meant that as a compliment.
DigitalRock Old-Timey Member Posted August 20, 2020 Posted August 20, 2020 this game is a lot different if the ump was not a moron
havok24 Old-Timey Member Posted August 20, 2020 Posted August 20, 2020 Well Anderson can't buy a f***ing call out there. He's all over the corners. The first 3 pitches were strikes to Realmuto. This umpire is incompetent.
glory Old-Timey Member Posted August 20, 2020 Posted August 20, 2020 Big DP. Time for Howard to get all the borderline pitches called strikes now.
Jonn Old-Timey Member Posted August 20, 2020 Posted August 20, 2020 Ok lets get some runs please I would like to not see Shun Yamaguchi pitch.
Orgfiller Old-Timey Member Posted August 20, 2020 Posted August 20, 2020 Big DP. Time for Howard to get all the borderline pitches called strikes now. Howard had some awful calls against him in the first inning too, but then got every outside pitch and more in the second inning. This umpire is terrible at calling balls and strikes.
Abomination Old-Timey Member Posted August 20, 2020 Posted August 20, 2020 Maybe when they remodeled Sahlen field they threw the umpires in the janitor's closet or something.
devo Verified Member Posted August 20, 2020 Posted August 20, 2020 I feel like McGuire would get more calls at the bottom of the zone if he held the glove where the ball is caught (at the knees). On both of those pitches called balls he pulled the glove back up to the middle of the zone and is just too much glove movement for a subtle frame.
glory Old-Timey Member Posted August 20, 2020 Posted August 20, 2020 Howard had some awful calls against him in the first inning too, but then got every outside pitch and more in the second inning. This umpire is terrible at calling balls and strikes. The key will be the borderline low pitches. Anderson wasn't getting those called strikes. If he does the same for Howard, then fair game. Can't change incompetence, just have to hope he's consistent for both sides.
Jonn Old-Timey Member Posted August 20, 2020 Posted August 20, 2020 Hopefully Montoyo politely discusses the strike zone with the umps later. Umpire will tell him to piss off and Montoyo will sadly stroll back to the dugout with his head down.

Yeah it depends on the ump, but sometimes too much framing can have negative results.
BlueRocky Old-Timey Member Posted August 20, 2020 Posted August 20, 2020 Umpire will tell him to piss off and Montoyo will sadly stroll back to the dugout with his head down. That’s actually my biggest issue with Montoyo. Not the bunts, lineups, or BP decisions. He’s soft as cashmere. I haven’t seen him fight or argue about any s***** ump calls. He’ll just nod and go back to the dugout with his head down, like wtf man.
Corporal Valdal Verified Member Posted August 20, 2020 Posted August 20, 2020 I dont think we are scoring any runs today
glory Old-Timey Member Posted August 20, 2020 Posted August 20, 2020 Umpire will tell him to piss off and Montoyo will sadly stroll back to the dugout with his head down. Sounds about right. Or he'll let some of his players get thrown out first, then allow the umpire to yell at him shortly after.
glory Old-Timey Member Posted August 20, 2020 Posted August 20, 2020 Man, I was somewhat optimistic about Hernandez with his statcast numbers since the 2nd half of last year + his walk rate, but if he's not walking at all anymore, it's going to be hard for him to be an above average hitter.
