I knew as soon as the #9 hitter got on it was GG’s. This Phillies lineup is to good.

Seriously, if the ump wants to call a strike on the outside pitch that is 2-3 inches off the plate for both sides, then I can live with that as long as he's consistent. But the curve ball down the F'n middle called a ball is insane.

Anderson has been pretty good today and might end up with a s***** line because of the umpire.

He actually looks fairly good imo.

Yeah pretty hard to have a good outing when you're making excellent pitches and the umpire gives you nothing. Anderson is getting screwed over badly.

When I said he's all over the corners I meant that as a compliment.

Well Anderson can't buy a f***ing call out there. He's all over the corners.

The first 3 pitches were strikes to Realmuto. This umpire is incompetent.

Big DP.

Time for Howard to get all the borderline pitches called strikes now.

Howard had some awful calls against him in the first inning too, but then got every outside pitch and more in the second inning. This umpire is terrible at calling balls and strikes.

I feel like McGuire would get more calls at the bottom of the zone if he held the glove where the ball is caught (at the knees). On both of those pitches called balls he pulled the glove back up to the middle of the zone and is just too much glove movement for a subtle frame.

The key will be the borderline low pitches. Anderson wasn't getting those called strikes. If he does the same for Howard, then fair game. Can't change incompetence, just have to hope he's consistent for both sides.

Hopefully Montoyo politely discusses the strike zone with the umps later.

Umpire will tell him to piss off and Montoyo will sadly stroll back to the dugout with his head down.

Yeah it depends on the ump, but sometimes too much framing can have negative results.

That’s actually my biggest issue with Montoyo. Not the bunts, lineups, or BP decisions.

He’s soft as cashmere. I haven’t seen him fight or argue about any s***** ump calls. He’ll just nod and go back to the dugout with his head down, like wtf man.

Sounds about right. Or he'll let some of his players get thrown out first, then allow the umpire to yell at him shortly after.

Man, I was somewhat optimistic about Hernandez with his statcast numbers since the 2nd half of last year + his walk rate, but if he's not walking at all anymore, it's going to be hard for him to be an above average hitter.
