I don't get why the Jays don't get him, I'm with Boxy on this one, seems like a no-brainer.

They and virtually every other team clearly aren’t interested in the personality. That’s not the veteran you bring into a clubhouse full of guys in their early 20’s. Not if you’re serious about building a culture anyway.

Can you imagine him accepting being in the bubble in Toronto lol. It would be 6 days before someone caught him in a hot tub with a bunch of models in Downtown Toronto.

It would be 6 days before someone caught him driving 200 kph on his way to the hot tub with the models.

Is he really that bad? I guess I haven't been paying attention to his off field antics.

I know that they met with his agent and someone in the industry thought the Jays were going to land him. I was sure he'd end up here as you know.

Yeah, you left me limp, lol.

on field all of his antics involve pissing off the other team (especially the Giants). I always heard he was loved in the Dodgers dugout, at least after he dealt with his lack of effort issues.

After Puig got into a bar brawl a few years ago this was in the media:

"He is the worst person I've ever seen in this game," one ex-Dodger who believes Puig is beyond redemption said flatly. "Ever."

Posted
That's from 5 years ago and the perspective of one person.

Puig is cancelled.

When a player establishes a bad reputation over many years to the point an organization gives up on him it's a very hard thing to fix.

To be fair, isn't that essentially what happened to Bauer? Not to say that Bauer is beloved by all now but I'd say he was seen as a lost cause by the Diamondbacks, probably the Indians as well to a certain extent until he just got good enough to ignore whoever he was making mad on the coaching staff, FO or whatever. From his videos it seems like he didn't have a very good relationship with Francona, but from his short stint with the Reds he seems to be more accepted. Puig, for the record, was an absolute fan favourite both on the Dodgers and the Reds.

And Puig's first run in with anyone was in his first month of baseball where he walked away from Luis Gonzalez (his opponent in the game) who was trying to offer him advice. The rep that he doesn't respect vets has followed him since that. Bumgarner even cited this as part of their feud. I have zero idea if Puig is a clubhouse cancer but if he is the Dodgers made the playoffs every year despite it

In an in-depth profile by ESPN.com's Alden Gonzalez, the charismatic outfielder revealed that his work ethic is going to be much different than in years past, given that he is looking to cash in during free agency next offseason.

"I never worked hard," Puig told Gonzalez. "Maybe that's the reason why I didn't have my better years. ... The last couple years, I didn't work hard because I still have a contract to go. Now I think I'll work hard more than any year in my life."

-For the record, I would have signed him in the past.

Definitely doesn't sound like a guy you should sign for more than a year at a time, that would make for great motivation for him to actually put in some effort instead of just coasting on his natural talent.

This is all kinds of awesome...

I take serious offence to the moustache comment in the tweet, my mother's moustache is something to be properly respected.

It won't take along for Cleveland to change their name. They've already been drifting that way in their branding. I'd say its probably a good thing overall, although I do agree with Boxy on the population its 'effecting' really not giving a s***. 90%+ of the Chief Wahoo hats I see are native guys.

It'll be really interesting to see how much pressure the Braves get. To me that's not that different than a team calling themselves the Knights or the Gladiators, but the mob needs something to be outraged about.

Wow I didn't expect the Redskins to change so fast. Guess the Indians will change it after the season.

Cool I guess. Doesnt really hurt anyone.

Yeah, to get upset at the Washington name change you'd have to be a real piece of s***.

For me, I liked the Redskins colours and uniform, so I'm less excited about that rebranding. The burgundy and yellow combination is pretty unique. It would in a sense be like if Oakland relocated and changed their name and colours. I don't really think people in Washington DC are racists and no one used the team name to incite hatred, but it is probably the most insensitive out of the Native American names (Blackhawks, Indians, Braves) so probably should be changed even if none of the natives care.

I am rooting for big changes to Cleveland, though. Their kits are putrid. Call them the Spiders because spiders are cool af and give them some unique new threads.
