jaysguy44 Old-Timey Member Posted July 18, 2020 Posted July 18, 2020 Obviously the Jays wouldn't get Trout for Kirk, because the Angels would need to offer more than just Mike Trout. This.
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted July 18, 2020 Posted July 18, 2020 I don't know much about Bryan Reynolds, but that seems like a steep ask... That's just some Joe Nobody speculating, Jays might've asked on him, but that guy has no intel at all. I doubt the Pirates are shopping him, and yeah that ask is far too much.
BlueRocky Old-Timey Member Posted July 18, 2020 Posted July 18, 2020 Teoscar just disrespected maple syrup, trade his ass!
Captain Adama Old-Timey Member Posted July 18, 2020 Posted July 18, 2020 I think Domingo German quit baseball last night, weird... https://www.sportsnet.ca/baseball/mlb/yankees-domingo-german-casts-doubt-mlb-future-instagram-post/ He better f***ing not, my LOD rotation depends on him.
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted July 18, 2020 Posted July 18, 2020 He better f***ing not, my LOD rotation depends on him. I'm a Dynasty owner as well... it's how I originally saw it. Latest News Jul 17, 8:52 PM EDT German (suspension) announced Friday that he has left baseball, Bryan Hoch of MLB.com reports. Analysis German was ineligible to take part in the shortened 2020 season with 63 games left on his suspension, but his update posted Friday on his personal Instagram page signals that he may not return to MLB once his suspension is over. The 27-year-old has posted a 4.52 ERA, 1.23 WHIP and 273:81 K:BB over 55 appearances (38 starts) in three seasons with the Yankees.
Jimcanuck Old-Timey Member Posted July 18, 2020 Posted July 18, 2020 I'm sure the Yanks have some guys on their way to talk to him
Boxcar Old-Timey Member Posted July 18, 2020 Posted July 18, 2020 Teoscar just disrespected maple syrup, trade his ass! Maple syrup is overrated. Aunt Jem...I mean, generic pancake syrup make by Quaker is better on pancakes.
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted July 18, 2020 Posted July 18, 2020 AP Source: Decision looming on Blue Jays games in Toronto Jul 18, 2020 , By ROB GILLIES TORONTO (AP) The Blue Jays will find out Saturday whether the Canadian government allows them to play regular-season games in Toronto amid the coronavirus pandemic. An official familiar with the matter told The Associated Press Saturday the federal government will make the announcement later Saturday. The official spoke on condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to speak ahead of the announcement. The team had been given clearance by city and provincial governments to play regular-season games at Rogers Centre and awaited approval from Canada's federal government. MLB needs an exemption to a requirement that anyone entering Canada for nonessential reasons must self-isolate for 14 days. The U.S.-Canada border also remains closed to nonessential travel until at least Aug. 21. Such a request is asking a lot because allowing games in Toronto means frequent back-and-forth travel to the U.S., where COVID-19 cases are surging. Canada has flattened the epidemic curve. The NHL has received an exemption for its restart to the season, but that was a far simpler case because the games are restricted to two hubs - Edmonton and Toronto. The Blue Jays are scheduled to start the season July 24 at Tampa Bay and play their home opener five days later against Washington. The Blue Jays received an exemption for training camp, during which the players agreed to isolate in the hotel attached to Rogers Centre and create a quarantine environment. Players are not allowed to leave the stadium or hotel and violators face fines of up to $750,000 Canadian ($551,000 U.S.) and up to six months in jail.
glory Old-Timey Member Posted July 18, 2020 Posted July 18, 2020 That sucks. Where do they play now, Buffalo?
43211234 Verified Member Posted July 18, 2020 Posted July 18, 2020 If they play in Dunedin hopefully they adjust the cf camera angle. It's way too low. It would suck to have to watch all the home games like that.
Slade Old-Timey Member Posted July 18, 2020 Posted July 18, 2020 I have to imagine Buffalo, there's no way they want to be in Florida.
Daniel Labude Jays Centre Contributor Posted July 18, 2020 Posted July 18, 2020 Buffalo Blue Jays most likely
Stangstag Old-Timey Member Posted July 18, 2020 Posted July 18, 2020 This is the right call, just not sure why it took the government so long to make this decision. Now the team only has a week and a bit to figure out where they’re playing and to set things up.

jaysguy44 Old-Timey Member Posted July 18, 2020 Posted July 18, 2020 It's the right decision Why's that?
Slade Old-Timey Member Posted July 18, 2020 Posted July 18, 2020 Why's that? Why don't you tell us why it's not the right decision?
Plat Verified Member Posted July 18, 2020 Posted July 18, 2020 Why don't you tell us why it's not the right decision? Because baseball being played in the rogers center > public health.
Boxcar Old-Timey Member Posted July 18, 2020 Posted July 18, 2020 Why don't you tell us why it's not the right decision? Because the players are being constantly tested and closely monitored? This isn't the black plague.
Jonn Old-Timey Member Posted July 18, 2020 Posted July 18, 2020 Have to think the limbo the team has been through in this process is going to have long term ramifications. This is truly a depressing outcome and might seriously hurt re-signing players and attracting players. The Virus is not going away anytime soon. Its extremely possible it could be years before we see Baseball back in Toronto. The bubble just can’t work for a Baseball unfortunately. Its not like Basketball where a practice facility is the same regulation size as a full court. You need enough fields to have the proper dimensions to play. The only place that really has that in abundance of atleast minor league quality is Florida and Arizona. And the Virus is a s*** show in both those places.
Boxcar Old-Timey Member Posted July 18, 2020 Posted July 18, 2020 Because baseball being played in the rogers center > public health. Oh yes, public health is in such danger from 50 guys traveling and staying together while being tested multiple times daily. I for one will never emerge from my shelter. I like canned beans anyway.

There will be a point where people decide that living this way is not worth it. I'm not sure why the federal government gets to override the provincial government on a matter of public health, anyway.
Olerud363 Old-Timey Member Posted July 18, 2020 Posted July 18, 2020 Why don't you tell us why it's not the right decision? It's not the right decision because it's emotion based not science based. There are still 300-400 cases being detected in Canada each day, they don't detect all the cases, so this represents between 1000 and 2000 new cases a day. How many additional cases will allowing the Blue Jays to play in Toronto cause?? Likely none. These players are being tested all the time and you will have almost perfect contact tracing. It's extremely low risk. Am I wrong?
Plat Verified Member Posted July 18, 2020 Posted July 18, 2020 Oh yes, public health is in such danger from 50 guys traveling and staying together while being tested multiple times daily. Good, stay there for as long you can, it's better for the rest of the country.
Jonn Old-Timey Member Posted July 18, 2020 Posted July 18, 2020 Its hard to say if this is better for the players. On the one hand they don’t have to live in the Rogers Centre all summer: On the other hand they now have to train and play in a facility that’s not even close to major league quality. This might have been a better option had the renovations to Dunedin actually be complete. I’m hoping Rogers is prepared to make a massive investment in the broadcast quality for a Buffalo. Otherwise the team should just train in Buffalo and play home ganes as the road team in other teams stadiums. Honestly they should just do that. Not like it matters anymore.
