Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted July 16, 2020 Posted July 16, 2020 At what number? $30M for 3 years? He’s getting $9,600,000 right now. Somewhere around that, sure.
jerb Verified Member Posted July 16, 2020 Posted July 16, 2020 Scott Mitchell @ScottyMitchTSN #BlueJays say at this point a final decision has not been made on where they will play their home games, despite @MacLeodLisa saying they have been given clearance. I’m not saying it’s not happening, but I’d sit tight on this one for a bit.

Orgfiller Old-Timey Member Posted July 16, 2020 Posted July 16, 2020 I assume you’ve never used YouTube before? 95% of the videos have click bait titles. I use YouTube all the time. I understand that's what gets clicks on the sites and more likely for the recommender algorithm to show it to other people. Doesn't mean I like it or the practice.
jerb Verified Member Posted July 16, 2020 Posted July 16, 2020 Scott Mitchell @ScottyMitchTSN Per federal government source, province of Ontario has cleared #BlueJays’ plan, as has city of Toronto, health authorities. Ball is in feds’ court now and a final decision is expected in the next few days.
Deadpool Old-Timey Member Posted July 16, 2020 Posted July 16, 2020 His career wRC+ before coming to Toronto was in the 90-95 range. "One of the worst hitters ever" seems like pretty strong hyperbole. They're basing it on his -2.9 WAR through age 27. There are myriad stats in baseball, and they found one that qualifies him as "one of the worst" to justify the title.
L54 Old-Timey Member Posted July 16, 2020 Posted July 16, 2020 Ken Giles is open to extension. What do you guys think? I'd offer him 3/30 but like other guys have said it's hard to know what this winter will look like. I said this before but if this team is serious about competing (define competing however you want, I'm talking about putting a competent playoff contender on the field) you need someone like Ken Giles + + in the bullpen.

Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted July 16, 2020 Posted July 16, 2020 Spanky must be high on post surgery meds This is very true, also hurting pretty damn bad in muscle aches and pain, 9 of 10 on the Spanky scale, that's f***ing really high.

My Doctor said to me, "you've been walking around with a broken shoulder for weeks, your pain threshold is off the charts" Echoed by many after, I felt like Stallone in First Blood!

I feel pretty good that the Feds will give their blessing now that the province has come out first and said YES!

Well, we aren't going to get s*** for him in a trade so may as well keep him, see where the team is at, throw an extension at him. Giles is really f***ing good and he seems to actually like it here since this is probably his first time having sustained success and confidence at the back of a BP.

glory Old-Timey Member Posted July 16, 2020 Posted July 16, 2020 Not being able to trade Giles for value makes bringing him back more sensible. It’s just a matter of timing. Shatkins doesn’t seem to spend big on relievers in general, and they’ve been pretty good at identifying cheap relievers every year. Once we get a sense of the FA market this winter, it might be easier to bring him back. Wouldn’t shock me if a lot of the better FA’s settle for one year deals. That’s where the Jays can pounce.

Bturn2210 Verified Member Posted July 17, 2020 Posted July 17, 2020 Moments after the trade, Edward Olivares takes Drew Pomeranz deep. Olivares' emergence is directly related to Franchy becoming expendable. hope that trade doesn't end up haunting the jays lol
RobinThicc Verified Member Posted July 17, 2020 Posted July 17, 2020 to this day I still cannot believe that trade...
