It's been so long since I've even thought about baseball. I looked at the 40 man for the first time in forever. No Nate Pearson on the 40. Practically forgot we even had Shoemaker. Felt pretty good about that. The infield...dynamite....and then the outfield..ugggh...oh yeah..forgot about that too. Can't wait for the schedule to come out.

That's why I said there are so many variables to Pearson, what if they come out of the gate hot AF and the Jays hold a PS spot, he'd most likely will be up in that case too. Our staff is full right now, 40 man, years of control say leave him on the taxi squad and get his innings in there. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Can the Jays make the playoffs? Short sprint. Teoscar and Grichuk are both streaky hitters. What if they get off to a hot start? What if Pearson is the rookie of the year? I'm dreaming already! Baseball must be back.

With the region based schedule the Jays play the AL and NL East for all 60 games. That's a good thing when we face the O's and Marlins, but beyond that it's the Yanks, Rays, Red Sox, Mets, Nats, Braves, and Phillies.

Not going to be easy. Expanded playoffs there would have been a shot. Regular playoff format is going to be tough.

Really where'd you see that, is it framed in already? I think anything can happen in 60 games. That would be tough.

Read it on Twitter. Don't think it's official yet, but that seems to be the framework to avoid excessive travel.

Top 2 teams in each division and 4 wild cards? When is the trade deadline? So many questions.

shi just tweeted players are being told to travel to Toronto. I guess we're going to see ball at Rogers Centre afterall!

Now shi is walking those comments back. It's not a done deal afterall.

Seems about right. Top prospects that are more polished, AAAA relievers and depth position players, and some AA/AAA depth prospects that they'd like to keep developing to see if they can squeeze some value out of them.

Austin Martin is sure to join them if/when he signs.

You missed Travis Bergen btw who hilariously is back with the team.

Sounds like Phillippe Aumont has retired from baseball to become a farmer, basically on a whim.

I'm firmly on the side that the government should allow the Jays to play in Canada, but make a decision already. What's the hold up?

Lol wow, maybe he was playing Stardew Valley and became inspired.

Where's Big Murph?

Where's Big Murph?

He's on the 40-man and therefore a part of the 60-man pool, King just mentioned the non-roster invitees.

Fans are going to be pleasantly surprised at Patrick Murphy’s electric stuff if he gets a chance to play. We have a couple guys that throw triple-digits, but Murphy does so in a starting role while keeping 96-98 velo deep into games and pairs it with a pretty sick breaking ball. It’s not a full 12-6 curve, but not really a slider either. Kinda a slurve and the spin rates suggest more slider (@2300rpm), but it’s got hard bite and tumbling action. If he doesn’t make it as a starter, that’s still a lights out bullpen arm with superior stuff to Jordan Romano.

Murphy looked really uncomfortable changing his delivery though, it bothered him so much he was pulled out of games and spent the last months of the season reworking a new delivery.

Happy Canada Day everyone!

That’s Adam Kloffenstein on the right, he’s a massive human being.

Who are lefty relievers on the team, who are heads and shoulders above Travis, that he shouldn't be in the mix? Travis won me my bet so I'm biased, but he's still not that old. He's had a bunch of injuries in his career and gets a fair amount of strike outs. He's not a guy you completely throw the towel in just yet.

Honestly, you make a good point. Our LHP reliever depth is basicaly non-existent. There's Pannone, potentially Borucki if he doesn't break the rotation, ditto Anthony Kay, Brian Moran, and Bergen. It's pretty gross and I have to imagine Bergen will have consideration. In the minors we had Kirby Snead and Jake Fishman, but neither is on the 60 player pool.

It should also be noted that LOOGYs are basically a thing of the past under the new rules, so you better hope your lefties are good enough to expose to RHH in case they don't get out their assigned 2-out lefty.

Cavan Biggio also won Eastern League MVP that year, Bichette also had a great season and Vlad was on IL for a month before getting promoted to triple-A.

Jays haven't announced who tested positive for covid but I just noticed from the recent sportsnet article that Hector Perez, Brandon Drury, Jonathan Davis and Elvis Luciano were added to the 10 day DL retroactive to June 30th so I'm guessing those could be covid related.

If that’s the extent of the damages, I think we’ll be okay.

I know. When I read the names I was thinking how fortunate the Jays are if those are the only ones who have tested positive.

I'm glad they did the testing before getting to Toronto. I don't want anyone coming into the city unless they are cleared.

You don't have to worry. All of Toronto is now in Wasaga Beach.
