HealthDream007 Verified Member Posted October 10, 2019 Posted October 10, 2019 Nats are good! Boooooooo
HealthDream007 Verified Member Posted October 10, 2019 Posted October 10, 2019 You look back on things if you're the Dodgers. Not upgrading the pen at the deadline has comeback to bite them.
Orgfiller Old-Timey Member Posted October 10, 2019 Posted October 10, 2019 This was AJ Pollock's 11th strikeout in 14 PAs. Yikes.

5ToolPhenom Verified Member Posted October 10, 2019 Posted October 10, 2019 Doolittle's just mowing em down Gotta imagine heads are gonna roll in LA
Omar Old-Timey Member Posted October 10, 2019 Posted October 10, 2019 What a letdown for the Dodgers after that season....gotta hurt. Congrats Nats.
thatoneguy Old-Timey Member Posted October 10, 2019 Posted October 10, 2019 Roberts gotta be on the hot seat after that.
HealthDream007 Verified Member Posted October 10, 2019 Posted October 10, 2019 Doolittle's just mowing em down Gotta imagine heads are gonna roll in LA I mean not bringing Jensen was moronic. I would have brought him in to start the inning. But when it get's to 2nd and 3rd none out, and you're going to set up bases loaded.... not to bring him in when Kelly clearly doesn't have an out pitch... it's asinine .... he isn't fooling anyone. I mean with Jensen at least he'd keep it close. Anyway... that's a wrap. Hopefully the Cards beat them in the NLCS. Night guys.

I just don't know what the excitement was to bring in Kershaw out of relief on short rest. Maeda should've been the guy, he's been lights out in the pen
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted October 10, 2019 Author Posted October 10, 2019 The twitterverse is savage right now at Dave Roberts, lol.
jaysblue Old-Timey Member Posted October 10, 2019 Posted October 10, 2019 I said the Nats were going to upset the Dodgers. They were a dangerous team for them in the DS. Dave Roberts bullpen management after they took Walker was out was brutal.

Bringing in Kershaw mid-inning was a bad call - there were multiple good relievers in the pen who are used to coming in without a fresh inning. No idea why Joe Kelly was the first reliever up after Maeda. He was probably the ~fifth best RP on their playoff roster?
Brownie19 Old-Timey Member Posted October 10, 2019 Posted October 10, 2019 I feel bad for Muncy. He's become one of my favourite players in the game. The guy is a beast. Otherwise - f*** the Dodgers.
glory Old-Timey Member Posted October 10, 2019 Posted October 10, 2019 Wow. Woke up to see Twitter exploding about the Dodgers. I went to bed assuming they'd win. Roberts is still really bad. The Nats might be the team of destiny this post season.

Don't forget Corbin/Greinke too...they were both top 13 in WAR this year!

DigitalRock Old-Timey Member Posted October 10, 2019 Posted October 10, 2019 Dave Robert's is awful. Mismanaging in the playoffs again this year. Just idiotic decisions.

Dodgers had far better options.
jaysblue Old-Timey Member Posted October 10, 2019 Posted October 10, 2019 I would be interesting to see Scherzer/Strasburg go head to head with Verlander/Cole I would like to see the Rays take on the Yankees, but agree a Nats/Astros World Series would be sick.
TheHurl Site Manager Posted October 10, 2019 Posted October 10, 2019 on another board I'm on there were talks about "where now?" for the Dodgers. I asked the question. What do you do differently? The team has won 90+ games for 7 straight years. Dave Roberts has the 5th best managerial record all-time, and a 25-18 playoff record, yet 80% of them suggested firing him. Like somehow talent wins in the season but managers lose in the playoffs. Several said get rid of Kershaw, while he is just barely scraping out zero salary to worth value, he's still a 3 win pitcher and those are tough to replace. Seriously though, the Dodgers should just keep doing Dodgers things.

The Nats might be the team of destiny this post season. That's what I thought in 2014 after we swept Detroit's 3 aces in Verlander, Scherzer, and Price. Then the Royals come along. Then it was the Royals were the team of destiny (especially sweeping us in the ALCS and in the WC game coming back from 7-3 going into the 8th... and later after trialing in the 12th by 1 run and scoring 2 in the bottom half to win vs the A's) until they lost to the Giants in part because Bumgardner was pitching like Cy Young (or perhaps more app in this situation, Christy Matthewson). So who knows what it going to happen. You could be entirely correct. I concede that the Nats are a scary team. Their middle of the order is is pretty potent, but the Scherzer-Strasburg-Corbin trio is what really scares you about them. Hopefully the Cards pull a 2014 Orioles against the Tigers. If not, it's up to the Astros/Yanks (who would be favored). Now if it's Nats/Yanks, I don't now who I'd root for. I guess we'll see what happens. I will say I'm really looking forward to the struggle of the Titans (Astros-Yanks), that should be an epic series. God, I love baseball.

I'd bet the majority of Jays fans want the former Expos to push their s*** in, I just want some good baseball, a Nats/Stros WS is what I'm hoping for. Should be fun.
