Cleveland gets Puig, Franmil, and Logan Allen for Bauer’s rental. That’s... a lot more than we got for 1+rental Stroman.

Puig is the rental here, he's sub 2 WAR outfielder turning 29. SWR and Kay is a very comparable return to Allen and Reyes value-wise

Trevor Bauer is a better pitcher than Stroman, and I feel like this deal just about accurately reflects that difference in their value.

I can 100% guarantee that Kay or SWR will have a better career than Allen.

Let's revisit this post in 10-20 years when their careers are over.

Oh, and Reyes is meh at best.

Yeah Trevor Bauer is a borderline Ace; his ceiling dwarfs Stroman's (HDMH).

Taylor Trammell seems wildly overrated by the scouting community.

I don't think Puig has any real value in this deal - Cleveland just said sure, we'll take him.

Hard to evaluate this trade. I don't think it's a greeeeat return for Bauer to be honest, but with Cleveland competing they want MLB players so it works.

Puig is also a moron and everyone hates him.

Is it really comparable? I like Bauer more than Stro buts it's closer than you think and it seems like the package is miles better.

How is it miles better? Allen is a backend top 100 guy. Kay was there up until a couple months ago. And if SWR continues to develop he'll make his way there as well. Please tell me Reyes isn't what's affecting your opinion on the deal.

Hi, Terminator. It isn't.

Marcus Stroman has a better career FIP than Bauer. Bauer had the one amazing year last year, but he's got a 4.17 FIP this year, and if there's a guy who might be a bigger head case than Stroman it's Bauer.

Reyes is a 40 FV outfielder who struggles to corner OF defence, Allen is a solid 50 FV piece but like Kay he hasn't been able to show anything above AA (he is 2 years younger however).

The Cleveland return has a higher floor getting players that are MLB ready, but for difference in value between Bauer and Stro our return really isn't lightyears behind.

Franmil has 2.6 fWAR in 634 career PA... that's a present ~50 FV player.

Bonus - you can say "make way for Franny!" as his HR call.

Let's remember there was speculation that Bauer was going to get Tucker+. This is just as much a let down as the Stroman deal or worse, IMO. I don't care for Reyes and would rather Kay and SWR together over just getting Allen.

Bauer has produced 3.8 fWAR more than Stroman since the start of 2016

This return for Cleveland is a bit underwhelming imo. Allen is a fringe top 100 guy, Puig is a headcase & Franmil is all power and nothing else.

Makes the Jays return on Stroman look fine to me but I was always ok with it because I'm just happy to be done with his side show in general.

Bauer clearly has a higher talent level than Stro, but I'd encourage everyone to actually LOOK at Bauer's Fangraphs page. It's not what you'd expect to see, outside of last season. It surprised the hell out of me.

Yup. He has all the talent in the world, but outside of 2018 he's not an ace.

Franmil may be better than you think. He's improved his defense this year a bit, has good walk (8.3%) and acceptable k (26.6%) rates, and put up a 129 and 116 wRC+ the last two years, and appears to be a little unlucky this year at the plate.

Look at Stromans fWAR page. Bauer is producing almost the same amount of WAR during a season where his results are clearly getting hurt by the juiced ball than Stroman is during his best season.

Looks at Michael Saunders in 2016 for the Jays ... better stats than Franmil.

I don’t know. I actually kind of prefer our trade tbh.

Anthony Kay is not that far from Logan Allen in terms of value. Both are projected to be bottom-mid rotation arms and have similar concerns. You could call it a wash between them.

SWR >>>> Franmil though.

If Bauer with 1.5 years of control wasn’t gonna get Kyle Tucker, Marcus Stroman in no way shape or form was gonna get him.
