I don't know why you guys are laughing, I think it's great that Atkins is asking for a premium on a deal in division with the Yanks, I agree with the last paragraph in that article.

 

While it seems as though Toronto’s demands have been ambitious to this point, there is no harm in aiming high with the MLB Trade Deadline still days away.

Add on #BlueJays/#Braves trade talks: I’m told Marcus Stroman is *not* the focus of that dialogue. The Braves are more inclined to add a reliever and/or versatile bat. @MLBNetwork @MLB

I doubt it's even the teams. Clicks are worth a lot of money, and when journalists can simply hide behind "sources" there's a lot of incentive to push out fake reports. As long as some are real, they can keep their reputations relatively intact.

So a Cuban IFA signing from last year who appeared to be out of pro ball a few years (probably trying to gain MLB signing eligibility) and another IFA signing from a few years ago who seems to be forever away and is super raw. That is decidedly not a sexy package for a very good reliever.

Daniel Hudson is probably more valuable than him.

 

Diekman is one of the top strikeout pitchers in baseball, has an excellent FIP and xFIP suggesting his performance thus far has been much better than his ERA indicates, and projects to be very good. Daniel Hudson is pretty bad, he walks nearly as many as Diekman while striking out a third fewer batters, and as a result his projections are very much unfavourable.

 

This is a steal for the A's even if they're only acquiring half a season of a good reliever.
