It's not unexpected that a player would react this way when there are lies floating around in the media regarding his situation.

It's not like this front office has a great track record of communication judging by the Donaldson and Encarnacion exits. And the early grumblings already with Guerrero/Bichette.

It's especially annoying that Donaldson called them out and now he's going to play 150 games and put up 4.5 WAR for Anthopolous.

At least Tulo got owned, but yet another relationship that ended badly.

This organization has a tin ear when it comes to public relations.

The JD situation would certainly hurt a lot less if he were bad/unhealthy this season. Watching him put up a 4-5 win season after the team completely botched its relationship with him hurts. I'm a least a bit intrigued by Merryweather, but JD was moved at the absolute nadir of his value. There literally wasn't a time in the last 7 years that JD was less valuable than he was when he left the org.

So we are all just going to pretend that the report the Jays have told teams they might sign Stroman instead is true? There's a 95% chance it's fabricated.

Still doesn't change the fact that Stroman wouldn't have commented on it if there was any respect between him and Atkins. I think that's the real story here.

This is a story? Stroman has been taking shots at the front office for years, and only taking more now that it's obvious he's on his way out the door.

This kind of feels like a step further I guess? If the team was indicating that they could pursue an extension if they don't like the offers, Stro's comments would have been a deliberate attack on their bargaining position.

Yeah the fact that players are so comfortable taking shots at Shatkins whether they are on the way out or in the minors waiting for a callup (Bo) is not good. They need to fix that s***. Even if it's an optics issue, hire someone to deal with that.

I'm pretty sure the Rays suspended Brent Honeywell a few years ago for something like that.

I don't have a problem with Bichettes comments though. He should be up after the deadline when there is roster space. He would have a gripe if they keep him down until next April. At the same time, a 108 wRC+ isn't exactly set the world on fire territory.

That's basically it. Why are all these guys so comfortable taking shots? Even if you say Shatkins is batting .750 on their analytical decisions regarding these players, the communication is still obviously non-existent and these situations are being handled without a touch of nuance or savvy.

Stroman is a bit of a mental case, obviously, but it's clear he's been left in limbo. He looked on the verge of crying in that TSN interview in the dugout. Obviously he has no idea what's going on.

And how hard is it to just sit him down at the start of the year and say, "Look, we're trading you. I'm sorry but our team is s*** and we need assets. Can you relax on social media a bit because there's going to be tons of rumors out there but let me assure you we have to trade you."

The thing is Shapiro seems like he would be really good in that role of communicating with players, even in his interviews he can describe things very clearly and logically, but Atkins might not be cut out for that, and it shows.

#BlueJays, #Cubs have had recent trade discussions about Eric Sogard, source says, and he is not in Toronto’s starting lineup today. The official explanation is a scheduled day off. 🤔 @MLBNetwork @MLB

Morosi is such a troll with his tweets. He knows nothing.

Either Kenny Ken, or someone like Sherman/Heyman who once in a while will be the first to announce something. Morosi is s***.

I agree with most of this except that Heyman, despite all of his shortcomings, is one of the best there is for breaking news first.

Breaking news: seller team may have contacted buyer team with the trade deadline looming 5 days from now. More at 7.

If true, this changes everything

Hey look, Sogard has interest.

Looks like Bichette is coming August 1st

Concept of #Twins acquiring a starter and reliever in same trade has been mentioned, but one source said they're not close to doing so at the moment. It doesn't appear they're comfortable (right now) with a Stroman-and-Giles for Larnach-and-Graterol deal. @MLB @MLBNetwork

Well s***

Doesn't mean they won't get desperate as July 31 gets close. It happens.

Don't really want Larnach.

Yeah I'm only stat scouting, but his numbers in the minors don't look anything special. Unless he can play CF, I wouldn't want a package built around him. I would assume he will be included in any deal though since the Twins don't really need him.

Graterol would definitely be the main piece I think in a trade with the Twins, maybe Balazovic.

Graterol has already had TJS and is now suffering shoulder issues. He's clearly the best pitcher in their system but there is a lot of risk there.

Need two of Graterol, Balazovic, Duran.

Balazovic, Duran, and Urbina for Stroman works on that trade simulator thingy. I think Graterol just has too many red flags for me to build a package around him, and Larnach looks ordinary. The lower minors guys are further away but could be fast risers.
