Man when Vladdy hits a ball to RF-CF the ball is always f***ing destroyed.

The ball explodes off his bat.

I'm so overjoyed he's a Jay!

Fantasy Leagues? I'm talking MLB... Aaaaaahhhh... leave me out of your way of thinking. Baseball moves unilaterally through the years and others follow, it happens man. You're stuck somewhere and won't evolve, that's on you, no-one else, pay attention.

My point is that when a player makes an out, you would like the outs to be productive if possible. Striking out with a man on second base with no out opposed advancing the runner by putting the ball in play is huge. Stats don't differentiate the type of outs that are made.

Pay attention.

I'm just kind of getting sick of having to hope for the best so far under Atkins.

That's understandable, but I'm willing to give Atkins the benefit of the doubt right now because I trust Mark Shapiro entirely and he hand-picked Ross Atkins to rebuild this team. My thoughts are that the current state of the team is a direct result of where the Blue Jays' internal metrics pegged the Blue Jays to finish at this point in their win trajectory. Yes, they could've added more wins via free agency, but would it have been enough to overtake at least two of the Red Sox, Yankees, and Rays, and would it have proved to be sustainable this early on in the rebuild? Maybe, but probably not.

In hindsight, I believe this season was always intended to be an assessment year for the front office to evaluate what they have in the supporting cast. Vlad, Biggio, Jansen, Bichette, Grichuk...those guys are the core and here long-term. What we get out of the other hitters on the current roster remains to be seen, but looks to be most likely pretty minimal.

The next 16 months (spanning the trade deadline this season, the upcoming offseason, and next season) will be the true test of Ross Atkins' mettle. He needs to make the right moves and show that he's astute in his evaluations or he should absolutely be replaced because he would have demonstrably shown that he's not the right guy to lead this team to perpetual, sustainable good times.

I just don't think it's fair to definitively say one way or the other just yet, as Atkins tried to remain competitive with the aging roster he inherited. The rebuild has only gotten into full swing since the trade deadline last season. Atkins made a few nifty little moves toward the future while the Jays tried to remain competitive with what was left of their expiring window - some of those moves worked out and some didn't, but the process was genuine.

With some progression from the rookies, Bichette getting called up and hopefully excelling, and maybe a breakout or two from someone unexpected, this team could be active on the free agency front and suddenly find themselves in a much more favourable position pretty quickly. It's possible that once the youthful core has established itself, this rebuild could turn around pretty quickly. They will have payroll flexibility for days.

I think I want to bang the chica in the black Orioles t-shirt sitting beside the girl in the pink who has been telling funny stories all night. Her friend is growing on me..

I don't know if he'll feature that on every pitch but Romano just threw a couple of filthy sliders.

That finisher was pretty spot on.

Hot take but I'm seeing pretty much the exact Ken Giles repertoire here, with less command of course.

It's pretty electric stuff for sure.

I agree with everything you're saying, especially with this year being an assessment year. This is what makes the Grichuk extension baffling because he should have used this year's performance as part of his decision. Nobody was going to steal Randal Grichuk away from us in the off season.
