Brito here to sit on the bench so McKinney can get everyday at-bats for a bit. I'm fine with it I suppose. Would prefer Alford just come up and play CF though.

Alford is already up. He's been recalled.

They're probably going to option Urena and Reid-Foley to make room for Brito and Hansen.

OK I didn't realise that. That makes no sense then. If Brito has to be DFA to be sent to AAA what if someone claims him (last year's wRC+ of 26 must be tempting haha)? Surely we could have got someone on a minor league deal, there is no point in moving Pillar if Alford doesn't take his spot.

Alford's here, he walked by Arash with his bags, etc... formally called on the team page.

So why acquire Brito at all if he's not being sent to replace Alford at AAA? We don't need a 5th outfielder on the roster.

There's no way Alford, Hanson, and Brito are all on the team.

There are several ways!

Ranked Arizona Diamondbacks #19 prospect after the 2017 season

Coming off an injury-riddled 2016, Brito was bit by the injury bug again in 2017 while he repeated the Pacific Coast League at Triple-A Reno. In 2016, he suffered a fractured toe while with the big league team, then he fractured the hamate in his wrist while getting ready for winter ball in November. In 2017, he needed yet another surgery after severely dislocating his left ring finger on a headfirst slide into home plate during a game early in spring training. The injury cost him two and a half months, impacting his standing on the organization's depth chart, and journeyman Jeremy Hazelbaker stepped into the fourth outfielder void. Brito, meanwhile, didn't play well enough at Reno to warrant even a September callup. Little has changed in terms of Brito's tools and upside, and he still gets high marks for his work ethic. Coaches say he might have become bogged down at the plate by mechanics, limiting his athleticism, and he still could use work on his approach. He runs well and can handle all three outfield positions, but he probably is best suited for a corner. Brito has handled righthanded pitchers better than lefthanders in his career, leading some scouts to view him as a potential platoon outfielder. Brito will have to show he can stay healthy in order to reach even that ceiling as he fights for a spot with the D-backs out of spring training.

Ask Atkins... they likely put him on waivers soon, to see if he passes through. If he's claimed, not a big deal.

Pregame said Shelley Duncan highly recommended Sócrates Brito and he's coming to the big club.

I watch on MLB.com and don't get to see s*** until the game starts.. Still a blank screen..:(

Does that mean you don't get to watch Buck/Pat?

Unfortunately I do, I just don't see pre-game/anthem etc, or out of town updates, post game show, when they go to the studio where Zaun used to be.. Only the game y ya.

I'm experimenting with watching the opposing team's feeds so far. It's very refreshing not having to listen to Buck all the time. I've noticed a lot of the broadcasters butchering the Jays players names. Some more than Buck!

Does that mean he has a sweet right hook?

I see Hansen and Brito up, SRF and Alford down. Once Bucholz is ready I think Guerra goes down.

I find watching the opposing feed you get a better analysis of the team's weaknesses. The Rogers team (Radio and TV) is not allowed to be or just are not that critical of the team. Jerry Howorth spoke about this and what happened when he was critical of Reyes..

Double plays that should have been turned, swinging at balls way outside the zone, not playing heads up baseball, or not hitting cut off

men, hustle down the line etc.

Many times the Rogers teams will gloss over these things... The opposing broadcast crews call it as they see it.. It help me become more objective about the team and players.

Did this happen? or is this what you think is going to happen?

Atkins said this morning that Brito will join the team in Cleveland and that Alford will get the bulk of his at bats in AAA. Said Alford still has more of his game to develop.

Makes sense. A whole whack of kids playing on the big club and through the minors. Some of these are bound to surprise, like Thornton the other night.

Guerra is also a 33 year old RP. Unless the Jays keep a short bench or send Luciano back to the Royals I don't see a spot for Guerra. They'll likely need to do one bullpen game unless they keep SRF up. I thought I heard yesterday that Brito and Hansen are both on their way to to Toronto.

They'll option Pannone I imagine once Bucholz is up and if Thornton looks poor when Borucki is ready I could see him being sent down as well. This of course also doesn't account for Richard who either needs to go to the 'pen or replace Borcuki/Thornton in the rotation.

If Alen Hanson is being placed on the roster then I would expect Richard Urena to be the odd man out.

Then our bench is:

Maile

Hanson

Tellez/Hernandez

Brito

I tend to agree, although it's too bad for Urena, who's had a nice start.

It's devoid of talent but the actual construction of it is fine. Backup C, UT guy, the extra platoon bats who pinch hit to go along with a CF/pinch runner.
