Yankees fans on twitter are scared of Happ staying in the division!

I wouldn’t want to trade Happ back to Toronto. He’ll get good again lol. Send him out of the division.

It’s amazing how many other people forget how good he was from 2016-2018. Even if he was bad last year, I don’t want him in the division. Send him to the NL

If we did take Happ and full salary I'd want something similar to what we got for Liriano which at the time was Pittsburgh's 5th and 16th best prospects in return. This would be something like Clarke Schmidt and Trevor Stephan. I'd do that without a complaint.

And there's a chance he rebounds. He was a 3 WAR pitcher for four years in a row before 2018. He was excellent in Toronto so obviously likes pitching here. If he bounces back high enough, that 2021 vesting option might not look that bad.

Biggest reason to avoid doing it at this juncture is that it would still be preferable to land, say, Ryu and Lindblom. Happ should be more of a "well, f*** - we got nobody" move.

The Yankees ruined Sonny Gray so it's entirely possible they wanted Happ to pitch a certain way as well which wasn't suited to his style in Toronto.

The Giants just acquired Will Wilson (Angels 2019 1st round pick) in exchange for eating Zack Cozarts salary.

Angels making room for Cole looks like.

Damn, that's pretty sweet for the Giants, depending on how much cash they sent back... I think his salary is like $12M?

FFS - this exactly the type of deal the Jays should be making with our payroll flexibility.

When was the last time any vesting option was executed?

Exactly. They just bought a first round prospect from last year. Happ should get a decent prospect too.

Wow - on a 1 year prove it deal.

Didi at SS, Segura to 2nd and Kingery to OF? or 3rd base?

Probably depends how the rest of the offseason goes I guess but they’re certainly going to have some flexibility

Never. By definition they aren’t executed - they vest.

Cashman never does emotional signings ever

He lets fan favorites walk with no shits given if it's the smart move

Boston looking to move Price. How much money would they have to eat before you'd be interested?

I'd eat the whole thing if they sent us something like Casas and Groome.

Still a hard no for me. We would need a top notch prospect to take on that contract.

I'd take Price on at 3 and 60 if Boston would be willing to eat the rest.

Price is probably worth somewhere between 3/50 and 3/60, so the question becomes what the prospects are worth to make up the difference. That seems about right to me. I'd love more, but both guys are very likely solid major leaguers.

Apparently Texas is looking to move any LH hitting OFer not named Gallo. White Sox are reportedly all over Nomar Mazara.

It feels like Mazara was always expected to be so good. He's now produced less than 2 WAR over 4 full seasons. Texas is probably wise to try to capitalize on him.
