Honestly it's kind of a ******** offer for Rendon. On the surface 7/215 looks nice and about what you'd expect he might get, but when you defer half the salary the contract really becomes 14/215 and certainly there's a team out there that will actually offer a $30MM AAV without having him jump through hoops. Present money is worth more than future money.

Yeah, if they want to defer money, best be moving that number up significantly, Good point.

The Nats seem to do that with all their big money contracts. I'm actually glad Harper turned it down and went with the Phillies.

Well, that depends on whether it's deferred with or without interest, and what the interest rate is on the deferred money.

I believe the Strasburg, Corbin, and Scherzer contracts (all of which have significant deferred money) have interest free deferrals.

Every O's, Nats, Brewers contract of any significant value. I think the Reds are also big. Fun that Chris Davis is paid $3.5M a year from 2023 to 2032

Was just looking at his stats, and EE has 414 career home runs. Never realized he was that close to 500. Impressive, considering he never really broke out until later in his career at 29.

You think he could reach that milestone? He still looks like a solid bet to deliver 30 + HR's per season as long as he's healthy.

Good question, needs to keep finding work as his production slides which isn't always easy for old DHs anymore. Needs to play 3 more productive and healthy seasons which will be years 37, 38 and 39 for him. If I had to bet on it I'd probably say no he doesn't get there. All it will take is an injury or a dropoff in production where he starts hitting 20-25 homers a year instead of 35 and he probably won't make it. I hope he does though!

He hasn't shown any signs of sliding, wRC+ of 129 will get him work, no doubt. Health permitting of course, kind of a Nelly-Lite, and he'd get there, hopefully. Such a great guy, would love to see it.

This is hilarious lol, although I'm sure the homeowners would see it differently. It's amazing what the inebriated mind will come up with. Can't open the door to my house? Better crawl through the doggy door, which I'm pretty sure I don't have.

He's incredibly lucky she could only grab the stun gun and not the real one.

This reminds me of a good story.

My ball team was at a tournament in Ottawa (Nepean) a few years back. It was always just an excuse for the team to get away and have a long weekend full of booze, drugs, strippers and baseball. This particular year we stayed in the university dorms. After a long night out, one of our more unique mouth breathers strayed from the pack and ended up on his own. He couldn't remember the address (or probably his name) and somehow, he ended up at a nursing home, which he thought was the dorms we were staying in.

Of course the doors were locked and he couldn't get in....so, he did the logical thing and hammered on the glass for awhile and then tried to destroy the little pedestal card reader thing that opened the door. Cops came and found him hiding in the bush. He drove him back to our dorms and proceeded to tell us all this story before letting him go. He had to pay like $1,500 to fix the card reader thing.

Good times.

Joe Maddon has signed a 3 year deal to manage the Angels

Massive year for the Angels. They really should be all in on Cole.
