Bobthe4th Old-Timey Member Posted December 6, 2019 Author Posted December 6, 2019 If Atkins is being sincere in the below blurb, then I doubt he's looking at Marte. In theory we have surplus catching prospects, so if we do make any prospect trades that's where we should be subtracting from. But yeah, you're probably right.
Bobthe4th Old-Timey Member Posted December 6, 2019 Author Posted December 6, 2019 Ownership has also publicly stated that they can't afford to keep both Strasburg and Rendon Mark Lerner is worth over $5billion dollars.
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted December 6, 2019 Posted December 6, 2019 Mark Lerner is worth over $5billion dollars. And his team just won the WS. He won't completely cheap out obviously.

Laika Community Moderator Posted December 6, 2019 Posted December 6, 2019 Toronto is kind of being pinched out of the upper and middle portions of the free agent SP market. Cole and Strasburg are not on the table, Ryu probably isn't, Bumgarner is a scary thought, and who knows about Keuchel. There are lots of options left - dozens of veteran starting pitchers looking for teams. A good portion of them are reclamation project types though. If you sort by projected WAR, immediately after Bumgarner you get to guys like Porcello, Wood, Martin Perez - guys all coming off of mediocre or bad seasons. There is a lonnnnng list of these guys though. Like I said, dozens and dozens. Toronto is going to be in the Dollarama free agent SP market in all likelihood, picking their favourite two reclamation project dudes. BTS Community Moderator Posted December 6, 2019 Posted December 6, 2019 Is Alex Wood healthy (at least ostensibly)? Signing him and limiting him to two times through as a long guy after someone like Font could work out very well.
Barkerfan23 Verified Member Posted December 6, 2019 Posted December 6, 2019 I thought we would discover an ace like Cleveland has done so many times with Kluber or Carrasco
L54 Old-Timey Member Posted December 6, 2019 Posted December 6, 2019 I’m fine with getting two of these guys. Gibson was my favourite target, but Wood, Roark, Bailey, Gausman, Smyly, Cahill, etc are all guys who will help raise the floor of this currently terrible rotation.
Ray Verified Member Posted December 6, 2019 Posted December 6, 2019 Final deal is the Rays get Renfroe and Xavier Edwards, and the Padres get Pham and Jake Cronenworth.

I wonder if the Padres will let Cronenworth pitch still. I still think you'll see a few more 2 from the 40 man for 1 deals from the Rays.

Barkerfan23 Verified Member Posted December 8, 2019 Posted December 8, 2019 I wonder if we are a match with a club like the clubs who have a lot of money tied up in starting pitching and are up against the luxury tax. I dont yhink they would move a Darvish but I can see them moving a Quintana or Lester Ofcourse I wouldn't want to give anything of significance it's just eating payroll
BTS Community Moderator Posted December 8, 2019 Posted December 8, 2019 Just came here to ask how much of Darvish’s 4/81 people would take on. You’d probably get him for nothing if you ate the entire deal.
