glory Old-Timey Member Posted May 8, 2019 Posted May 8, 2019 DSJ being a better outfielder than anyone currently on the roster aside from Grichuk is not a far fetched outcome. That might say more about how bad the Jays are than DSJ, but it's true. Even if he's league average, that unfortunately might be better than Teoscar, McKinney, Drury (now that he's playing OF), Gurriel, etc.
Boxcar Old-Timey Member Posted May 8, 2019 Posted May 8, 2019 What a silly thing for a person to type. Pick a random player who is overperforming and compare them to a random player who is underperforming and that's supposed to be insightful in any way whatsoever? Is Alford underperforming?
Jimcanuck Old-Timey Member Posted May 8, 2019 Posted May 8, 2019 Look forward to when the Jays are good again and losing a fringe guy like DSJ gets barely a mention on here.
Deadpool Old-Timey Member Posted May 8, 2019 Posted May 8, 2019 Is Alford underperforming? I believe he is, I could be wrong I suppose, but I'm still of the opinion that he's a lot more than he's showing this season so far.
Carlos Danger Old-Timey Member Posted May 8, 2019 Posted May 8, 2019 Is Alford underperforming? I am probably in the minority.. However, I strongly believe that Alford will perform better in the majors the the minors.. Just need to give him the chance and playing time. I also believe we would def get equal to or more than Brito gives us... So, whenever that experiment is over and we feel we can sneak Brito through waivers.. Drop Brito, call up Alford.. Drop from 8 pitchers to 7 and call up Biggio too!

Carlos Danger Old-Timey Member Posted May 8, 2019 Posted May 8, 2019 (edited) Why? Same reason some closers can't pitch to save their lives when it is non-save situation. Same reason there are guys who are average in the regular season and turn into MVPs in the playoffs... Same reason some guys raise their game in the big show, others melt... Better environment, wiser coaches, wiser teammates, better conditions and lighting... a bunch of stuff.. I just get that feeling with Alford.. Edited May 8, 2019 by Carlos Danger

It seems pretty unlikely that a player who has been completely overmatched in his tenure at AAA will be a competent big leaguer.
5ToolPhenom Verified Member Posted May 8, 2019 Posted May 8, 2019 I don't think it's any of that so much as the fact that you can pay $130 or whatever for MLB.tv and sit on your couch and flip though literally any game on the MLB schedule that interests you an watch it in HD on your 55 inch TV. Fighting traffic, paying $30 for parking and $15 for a beer is pretty unappealing in comparison. Exactly. The cost to go see a game now is just pillaging. I think that has a lot to do with it rather than people just not enjoying baseball anymore.

He also leads the Bisons in SBs. He just needed a month to warm up...
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted May 8, 2019 Posted May 8, 2019 (edited) Fiers' throwing a no-no through 8 2/3... pitch count's high @ 128 pitches. And he did it 2BB's and 6K's Edited May 8, 2019 by Spanky99
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted May 8, 2019 Posted May 8, 2019 Pete Alonso's a beast! Alonso vs Paddock for NL ROTY should be interesting
Boxcar Old-Timey Member Posted May 8, 2019 Posted May 8, 2019 Alonso vs Paddock for NL ROTY should be interesting Why do you keep spelling Paddack's name incorrectly?
Boxcar Old-Timey Member Posted May 8, 2019 Posted May 8, 2019 I believe he is, I could be wrong I suppose, but I'm still of the opinion that he's a lot more than he's showing this season so far. And last season too, I guess. Dunno why you are of that opinion but more power to you. Alford sure looks like he sucks s*** and there's nothing tangible to indicate that he doesn't suck s***.
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted May 8, 2019 Posted May 8, 2019 Zeke was released by the Dodgers Oops.
Pendleton Old-Timey Member Posted May 8, 2019 Posted May 8, 2019 Atlanta is considering moving Newcomb to the pen, definitely not something that would have seemed likely a year ago.
Brownie19 Old-Timey Member Posted May 8, 2019 Posted May 8, 2019 Zeke was released by the Dodgers today I learned that Zeke still plays baseball. Yesterday I learned Shoemaker is already 33! you guys make me smrt.
Bobthe4th Old-Timey Member Posted May 8, 2019 Author Posted May 8, 2019 Zeke was released by the Dodgers We already have Revere, sign Carrera and then tempt Collabello to leave the Sugar Land Skeeters and we can field an outfield like it’s 2016 again!

Pinkfloid Verified Member Posted May 8, 2019 Posted May 8, 2019 Good on Fiers, but I do think the error in the fifth inning should have been ruled a hit.
BTS Community Moderator Posted May 8, 2019 Posted May 8, 2019 Is Mike Fiers the worst pitcher to throw a no-hitter?
Orgfiller Old-Timey Member Posted May 8, 2019 Posted May 8, 2019 Is Mike Fiers the worst pitcher to throw a no-hitter? Not even close. Remember when Phillip Humber threw a perfect game? He had more seasons with negative WAR than positive.
