Pitching is hard. Never pitch.

Yeah it's why even though SWR looks like a stud at this point he's still high risk to me. Teenage pitchers carry a certain general risk and high attrition rates.

We could only speculate who those prospects were but only time will tell how well he did. Those names will start to leak out over time already.

Josh Donaldson just took Stroman deep.

Awful start for Stroman. 5 strikeouts, 4 walks, 2 HR given up in less than 6 innings. Luckily for him the Mets gave him a bunch of run support.

He gave Minka Kelly herpes as well (or so is the rumor).

The man is a herpes machine

Jeter gave herpes to:

Alba

Biel

Scarlett Johansson

Mariah Carey

Vanessa Minnillo

In turn, JT, Orlando Bloom and Nick Lachey got herpes from these chicks.

That's a hell of a list for Jeter. Well done - but wrap it up man!

I hope you are just pulling things out of your ass and don't actually know these facts.

I hate Derek Jeter and everything he represents. He was a selfish POS to an insane degree and his ego dwarfed A-Rod's, he was just quiet about it. He was a s***** defensive SS for almost his entire career and the Yankees traded for a guy who was much better at his position. Did Jeter do right by the team and move? Of course not. A-Rod had to play third because King Derek always had to get his way. The lore around his postseason performance, which was pretty much the same as he's regular season performance, etc.

Sanchez got rocked last night against the A's.

51/3 7hits 6ER 2BB 3K.

Wonder how may starts they'll give him before moving him to the pen

Is JD back on the HOF track?

HOF is going to be tough considering how late a start he got. I wonder what kind of offers JD might get in the off-season.

I was listening to the Red Sox game on sirius a week ago. They weren't even playing the Jays, I'm not sure why I was listening. I'm not even sure who their announcers are and they were talking about whether Martinez would opt out and they both thought he wouldn't. Then they start talking about Donaldson for some reason and they both thought he wasn't getting anywhere close to the 23 he got this year and the one announcer suggested he might get 2 year 30 mil.

3 and 22 to 25 AAV seems like a likely contract to me.

Maybe.

I dont think he'll get 100 Dalmatians this year though, he has about 6 weeks to get 28 ribbies.

We shall see

maybe getting a guy with bad command to throw lots of mediocre four-seamers and rainbow curveballs isn't the perfect idea everyone thought it was

Cue the Sanchez supporters crying "it's just one start".

There isn't a team in the league that wouldn't cream their jeans to get Donaldson for 2 @ $30M

It was an awful start. Based on Gameday, it looked like his velocity was down as well

Random Thoughts:

Was listening to Atkins on "At the Letters" podcast, talking about building around the core with what we can see now. 15 people locked in a room to dream up the Stro and Sanchez deals etc etc.

Got me thinking our "Mount Crushmore" teams were built around 3 basically found money projects from other orgs that weren't highly touted prospects - JD, Jose and Edwin.

Then some other key pieces I never imagined would play the role they did....remember Adam Lind for who? Estrada.

We got lucky on Edwin and Jose and AA took risks locking them down cheap. JD was arguably his best deal. Other deals were a disaster.

This FO is trying to build around a young controllable core. But in terms of the pitching and D issues it seems to me we are also going to need a lot of luck and the other pieces assembled. I don't know if I have any faith in Atkins. He is f***ing painful to listen to.

Whatever it is its going to look a lot different than we envision today.

...that is all.

I'm not drinking the kool-aid but I'm a bit more optimistic than this. Vlad, Bo, Biggio, Jansen make up a fantastic core. Add in other cheap/ somewhat interesting pieces like Gurriel, Grichuk and even Fisher and Teoscar and the lineup looks like it should be in good shape for the next 3-4 years.

The pitching looks like s*** but we have a buttload of #5 types. If a couple of them stick, or even better turn into mid rotation guys, we are looking much better there. Pearson could be the #1 or 2 type we need. We probably need to make a big signing there though.

The bullpen looks like s*** to me but it's easier to turn that around.

Is this the name that Alyssa Milano uses to book hotel rooms or something?

No...it's a real person. Nick Lachey's wife
