Abomination Old-Timey Member Posted March 23, 2019 Posted March 23, 2019 The pitching staff in a complete shambles. Twins released Tim Collins. We need to make this happen, at least long enough to get him one save opportunity
Grant77 Old-Timey Member Posted March 23, 2019 Posted March 23, 2019 I can't comprehend why we didn't get more depth. This happens every spring and they just watched guys like Gio Gonzalez sign minor league deals. I understand that he may not have been willing, but a lot of depth pitchers have signed reasonable deals recently and we chose not to sign any of them.

If Gio Gonzalez had minor league deals as the best he could do, then I'm sure he was more excited about having the chance to join the Yankees than us.

Bobthe4th Old-Timey Member Posted March 23, 2019 Author Posted March 23, 2019 Man that blows, 11th overall pick and his career was completely derailed by injuries. Not unlike Pompey, who seemed so promising but multiple concussions is just about the worst thing that can happen as an athlete. You’d think concussions are only really an issue in contact sports, but yeah Pompey has been unlucky. For baseball position players it’s got to be knee injuries that are the worst, pretty much everything they do requires putting pressure on the knee joints.

That's totally different from literally every other sport.

Jimcanuck Old-Timey Member Posted March 23, 2019 Posted March 23, 2019 Meh, virtually every pitcher has arm soreness this time of year as they ramp it up for the season. Let's not overreact.
Carlos Danger Old-Timey Member Posted March 23, 2019 Posted March 23, 2019 Let's not overreact. Not like it is the Mueller investigation or anything. If Bobtheforskin wasn’t such a snowflake and have everyone on ignore, he would see we were talking about Borucki last night. Out of all the injuries this one hurts me and the team the most. Your my boy Ryan, your my boy Blue! Hurry back and show the haters on here why they call you Aceucki😢
BTS Community Moderator Posted March 23, 2019 Posted March 23, 2019 I think I want to see Thornton fill in for Borucki, but anyone except Pannone would be fine.

Abomination Old-Timey Member Posted March 23, 2019 Posted March 23, 2019 Thornton is starting today, for whatever that's worth.
Laika Community Moderator Posted March 23, 2019 Posted March 23, 2019 This Giants - Pillar stuff is pretty annoying. Cameron Maybin’s release has left the Giants in need of a right-handed hitting center fielder who can complement Steven Duggar. To this end, the club has “looked into Blue Jays center fielder Kevin Pillar and Brandon Guyer,” Henry Schulman of the San Francisco Chronicle writes. ... Pillar is the much more accomplished defender, though not much of a hitter and also much more expensive than Guyer would be, as Pillar is set to earn $5.8MM this season. There’s also the question of what the Giants would have to give up to Toronto in a trade, though Schulman notes “it’s unclear whether the Blue Jays would entertain a deal.” San Francisco’s interest in Pillar dates back to earlier this offseason, though obviously no trade came together. Do they want him for nothing? Does Toronto value him highly for reasons?

Laika Community Moderator Posted March 23, 2019 Posted March 23, 2019 Pillar for Heliot Ramos I would be happy with like Conner Menez
Pendleton Old-Timey Member Posted March 23, 2019 Posted March 23, 2019 Pillar for Heliot Ramos Luis Toribio
Abomination Old-Timey Member Posted March 23, 2019 Posted March 23, 2019 Luis Toribio Yeah, he seems kind of interesting, although he'll probably need to move to 1st like Vlad eventually will. Something like Toribio and Black for Pillar + salary this year seems decent for both sides.

Abomination Old-Timey Member Posted March 23, 2019 Posted March 23, 2019 You love Black, lol. Controllable, triple digits, and last year a literally unhittable curve, albeit a relatively small sample size. Good bullpen piece, and a small step forward on the fastball command could see him become a dominant closer.

Deadpool Old-Timey Member Posted March 23, 2019 Posted March 23, 2019 Elvis with a decent inning 1h, 1k, 0bb
Deadpool Old-Timey Member Posted March 23, 2019 Posted March 23, 2019 Oooh, the rare 2 RBI sac fly. Noice.
