Sammy225 Old-Timey Member Posted December 11, 2018 Posted December 11, 2018 I can’t believe Atkins once again forgot to run a decision by Marcus Stroman. I know right do they not know that he needs to know everything before it happens.
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted December 11, 2018 Posted December 11, 2018 Jays could have saved money waiting until Spring but diid the “noble thing”. Tulo said he was going go home in Spring Training if he didn’t win the Shortstop job. They could have suspended him without pay and saved that money. I don’t understand why the Jays agreed to release him now without saving money. Has to be more to this. That's a good point. Or he could have made it, built up some value, then trade him and eat 2/3 of his salary instead of close to what will be most likely the full amount. They did him a favour... it's in the tweets above by G-Snarls.
LGBJ29 Verified Member Posted December 11, 2018 Posted December 11, 2018 You think the Jays win 6 fewer games in 2015 without Tulo, who only played 41 games total? Wait a second, you don't think his intangibles are worth 24 WAR per season?
Captain Adama Old-Timey Member Posted December 11, 2018 Posted December 11, 2018 I can’t believe Atkins once again forgot to run a decision by Marcus Stroman. Could you imagine if/when Stroman gets traded and Atkins forgets to contact him? His meltdown would put Chernobyl to shame.
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted December 11, 2018 Posted December 11, 2018 is Marcus at it again???? Oh boy... he can't help himself.
TheHurl Site Manager Posted December 11, 2018 Posted December 11, 2018 At near min salary is there a contender that adds Tulo? I mean the Braves are the obvious one.
Maahfaace Verified Member Posted December 11, 2018 Posted December 11, 2018 Giving Tulo the option to sign elsewhere early in the off season would seem like the motivation for both sides to come to a buyout agreement. So by agent Paul Cohen's logic, is Tulo not a good guy now because he didnt help facilitate a buyout? At the very least Atkins should have been able to secure the buyout clause monies for the last option year of the contract, but instead opted to be a "nice guy". This has a faint odor of incompetence....

LGBJ29 Verified Member Posted December 11, 2018 Posted December 11, 2018 Just another awful move by the Jays angles of death. But must say they've done a fantastic job chasing away all of the players the fans paid to come and watch. No wonder they lost a million fans since 2017. And they would rather eat 38 million than see if Tulo can contribute and if nothing else mentor all the young "will be ERROR FILLED" infielders?? Are you kidding me? This it supposed to be a REBUILD, not a DESTROY. If Jays don't be careful and Vladdy and some of the others don't take off, this team may end up in Montreal within next 3 years. The BLUE FLU is TRUE. one of the shittier troll jobs for sure
Carlos Danger Old-Timey Member Posted December 11, 2018 Posted December 11, 2018 wearelaughing.gif Aren't you the guy on here saying the Jays are going to go after JB and or EE... That is the most nonsensical thing I have heard in a long time. The Jays run differential was Huge (in the positive) as the Donald would say, in 2015, yet we were 2 games below .500... Why? Tulo gave us plus D at a key position and saved a lot of runs, brought a hell of a lot of leadership, motivation, poise to the team. He also got some huge hits down the stretch and in the ALDS. Everyone laughing, please tell me what magical switch was flipped between 1st half 2015 vs 2nd Half... When did the win streak start?? It was the first game Tulo played. They lost the first game after the Tulo deal to Philly, a s*** team, Tulo was not in the line up, and then when Tulo landed, they, won, and won and won. Price was only part of that. The Jays do not go as far as they did without Tulo in 2015. Period!
LGBJ29 Verified Member Posted December 11, 2018 Posted December 11, 2018 So Stroman is the bad guy? He hates these idiots running the team and for good reason. He's probably praying they trade him. alright mods where we at with this fire hose?
Sammy225 Old-Timey Member Posted December 11, 2018 Posted December 11, 2018 alright mods where we at with this fire hose? Its called the ignore button..... Its fantastic

Jimcanuck Old-Timey Member Posted December 11, 2018 Posted December 11, 2018 Last time we saw a 'healthy' Tulo manning SS he was average at best. Range was mediocre. He would be worse now, 2 years later. Can only see him as a 1B/DH and emergency sub around the IF. An AL bench piece.

Shatkins aren't idiots, they weren't going to get anything out of Tulo and rather than keep him on the 40 man just praying for a dead cat bounce they instead cut him loose. I know we had some potential Rule 5 guys out there, this could help us protect one of them. What a f***ing albatross his contract was though. Paying him 58 million from 2018 on and he won't suit up for a single game. He was a 0 WAR player in 2017 too so we paid him another 20 mil that year which brings the total to $78,000,000 for 4 years of 0 WAR. Thanks AA.

My bad. Here yee, here yee, let it be known P2F did NOT say we are going to bring back JB and or EE. I f***ed up. In the example of Boxcar, I am going to allow 12 hrs (because my screw up was only half as bad) of free insult without retort. Starting now. Again, P2F I apologize. However, I am still right about Tulo!

They had 38 million reasons to pray for a dead cat bounce. If he signs for 500K for a team and puts up a 3+ win season, they are going to look like fools. Why are they not dumping Morales if they are going to get rid of Tulo? Morales has been paid 22 mil to give -.4 WAR over the last 2 season. Give the young guys a chance.

Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted December 11, 2018 Posted December 11, 2018 $78,000,000 for 4 years of 0 WAR. Thanks AA. Why don't you shut your revisionist piehole and thank AA for two straight ALCS appearances, dickcheese? Tulo was coming off two straight 5 WAR seasons and a 170 wRC+ the year before. Everybody here jizzed their pants when we acquired him and the prospects turned out to be absolute bums. The player turned to dust and the money was wasted, but you know what? It's really not that much of an albatross by modern MLB standards, go take a look at Miggy, Chris Davis, and Pujols if you want to see what one really looks like. It was absolutely a worthy gamble to take at the time and we were all elated. You're a whinging ****, is what I'm saying. I don't see you bowing down and sucking AA's dick for signing EE and Bautista to highway robbery below market extensions. Why don't you go do the math on how much surplus value he grabbed us there? And while you're at it, go crunch the numbers on the Donaldson trade, which is so far the biggest heist of the decade. I honestly can't believe some of the f***ing whining that goes on around here about AA. He even left us a parting gift of the slam-dunk best prospect in baseball, who literally the whole industry considers a HOF caliber bat before he's even debuted. You should build a f***ing shrine to Alex Anthopoulos, you ungrateful so-and-so.
Jimcanuck Old-Timey Member Posted December 11, 2018 Posted December 11, 2018 Yankees need a shortstop while Gregorius is out. Doubt anyone signs him to be a SS. To be a 1B/DH type and see if there's anything left in the bat, maybe. On a short leash.
