Doubt anyone signs him to be a SS. To be a 1B/DH type and see if there's anything left in the bat, maybe. On a short leash.

Not everyone hates veterans like you. The guy hasn't been a negative defender in his life.

In 2016 the last year he played close to a full year at short he was an above average short stop. He had a positive UZR that year, and it's been stated multiple times by tulo that he's been dealing with heal issues for several years, so he wasn't even completely healthy when he put those numbers up.

If he is healthy, the guy can likely still play defense at a league average clip and if he's healthy he can likely still hit at a league average or better clip. Would have been nice to see him in spring training to see if he's healthy or not.

Why don't you shut your revisionist piehole and thank AA for two straight ALCS appearances, dickcheese? Tulo was coming off two straight 5 WAR seasons and a 170 wRC+ the year before. Everybody here jizzed their pants when we acquired him and the prospects turned out to be absolute bums. The player turned to dust and the money was wasted, but you know what? It's really not that much of an albatross by modern MLB standards, go take a look at Miggy, Chris Davis, and Pujols if you want to see what one really looks like. It was absolutely a worthy gamble to take at the time and we were all elated. You're a whinging ****, is what I'm saying. I don't see you bowing down and sucking AA's dick for signing EE and Bautista to highway robbery below market extensions. Why don't you go do the math on how much surplus value he grabbed us there? And while you're at it, go crunch the numbers on the Donaldson trade, which is so far the biggest heist of the decade. I honestly can't believe some of the f***ing whining that goes on around here about AA. He even left us a parting gift of the slam-dunk best prospect in baseball, who literally the whole industry considers a HOF caliber bat before he's even debuted. You should build a f***ing shrine to Alex Anthopoulos, you ungrateful so-and-so.

Pretty sure you're joking but I don't hate AA nearly as much as others do here but this move was not a good one. I suppose he saved us 100 mil on Vernon Wells or whatever it was so there's that. AA was a mixed bag is what I'm saying.

someone is upset that his best looking Jay is gone

I'm not upset that my close, personal friend Troy has moved on. It's the best thing for all involved and brutha got paid. What annoys me is when people crap on AA for pushing in chips and taking on salary at a very reasonable moment to do so, completely disregarding 1) the success of those teams 2) the fact that almost every prospect we traded turned out to be nothing and 3) the salary that was "wasted" on Tulo, Josh Johnson, Jose Reyes, etc could NOT have been spent on superstar free agents since those players never would have signed here and the Jays had to be opportunistic in acquiring big money players by trade. They act like AA was a spendthrift lunatic, which is absolute revisionist history. AA was a brilliant contract negotiator, a great drafter, and a very shrewd trader. The fact that the team didn't win the WS during that competitive window doesn't change any of that.

Exactly. And not everyone jizzed their pants. Some of us older guys got a tingle.

I'll admit I only skimmed through a couple lines if you'll admit you should had properly quoted it.

I admit nothing.

That post is legendary and was part of one of the best memes this board has ever known.

Wait, so it was P2F??? I am confused, I just committed Hari Kari on the board because I thought I was wrong? It sure looks like he said it in your link..

He posted it again instead of quoting it from the original author. It wasn't him, but the confusion is warranted.

No, it really isn't.

I was crapping on AA in that moment but I haven't been that harsh on him. I used to hate on the Rays fanboys of the board and defended AA all the time. He ran the team like a crazed poker player and made some huge moves, some worked out and fewer didn't. He skipped town before he had to deal with the consequences of his tenure so it was would have been interesting to see how it all played out in the end. I heard some personal things about him that were kind of s***** but on paper he was probably an average to above average GM?

So after literally saying he wouldn't move off shortstop...

Yeah he's cooked and today confirms it. Shatkins aren't idiots, they weren't going to get anything out of Tulo and rather than keep him on the 40 man just praying for a dead cat bounce they instead cut him loose. I know we had some potential Rule 5 guys out there, this could help us protect one of them.

What a f***ing albatross his contract was though. Paying him 58 million from 2018 on and he won't suit up for a single game. He was a 0 WAR player in 2017 too so we paid him another 20 mil that year which brings the total to

$78,000,000 for 4 years of 0 WAR. Thanks AA.

That's not fair, risk was there, but it wasn't a bad deal at the time.

Ok, I am going to fall on my sword here and apologize profusely, I screwed up and thought it was you. My bad. Here yee, here yee, let it be known P2F did NOT say we are going to bring back JB and or EE. I f***ed up.

In the example of Boxcar, I am going to allow 12 hrs (because my screw up was only half as bad) of free insult without retort. Starting now.

Again, P2F I apologize.

However, I am still right about Tulo!

Admit your Statman.

They had 38 million reasons to pray for a dead cat bounce. If he signs for 500K for a team and puts up a 3+ win season, they are going to look like fools. Why are they not dumping Morales if they are going to get rid of Tulo? Morales has been paid 22 mil to give -.4 WAR over the last 2 season. Give the young guys a chance.

I'm sorry but can someone please explain why this move is good/makes sense?

All it does is open a spot for Gurribabip, and he is not good at baseball, he is infact bad at baseball, with a very small chance of maybe being ok.

It only makes sense if Tulo is too injured/probably will never play again.

A 34 year old Tulo (if he is healthy enough to play) will outperform Gurribabip 75%~ of the time in 2019.

BTS, can you do your f***ing job?

Thanks,

Everyone
