5ToolPhenom Verified Member Posted October 6, 2018 Posted October 6, 2018 There's a ton of ex-Jays in the playoffs this year! Makes it difficult to chose a team to root for. Indians have the most. Braves are the only team with none but they have AA so that kinda counts:p
John_Havok Old-Timey Member Posted October 6, 2018 Posted October 6, 2018 How many teams not in the playoffs have ex me members of the Jays or the playoff teams? Then tell me why it's relevant
Boxcar Old-Timey Member Posted October 6, 2018 Posted October 6, 2018 How many teams not in the playoffs have ex me members of the Jays or the playoff teams? Then tell me why it's relevant Don't think he said it was relevant, bub, just a cute little quirk
5ToolPhenom Verified Member Posted October 6, 2018 Author Posted October 6, 2018 How many teams not in the playoffs have ex me members of the Jays or the playoff teams? Then tell me why it's relevant I just noticed how many former Jays are participating in this particular playoff. Definitely a lot more than what we usually see. Then I started to think about "what team doesn't have a former Jay?". Nothing really relevant about it. I just thought it was a neat tidbit.
Boxcar Old-Timey Member Posted October 6, 2018 Posted October 6, 2018 What I think is even cooler is that, to my knowledge, every player dealt by the Jays at or after the deadline ended up on a playoff team. Even Axford!
Jonn Old-Timey Member Posted October 6, 2018 Posted October 6, 2018 Do you guys generally feel more inclined to cheer for former Jays or cheer against them?
Boxcar Old-Timey Member Posted October 6, 2018 Posted October 6, 2018 Do you guys generally feel more inclined to cheer for former Jays or cheer against them? I'm neutral. I did feel kinda bad for Happ, though.
glory Old-Timey Member Posted October 6, 2018 Posted October 6, 2018 The Jays traded 8 players (for 13 players) at the deadline, and only teams in contention usually make additions mid season, so makes sense to see so many ex Jays. Only Loup of the players traded is not in the playoffs.

Dick_Pole Old-Timey Member Posted October 6, 2018 Posted October 6, 2018 Do you guys generally feel more inclined to cheer for former Jays or cheer against them? Like what Boxcar said, neutral most of the time. But sometimes depends on the player. For instance, if/when Marcus Stroman gets traded I will cheer for that team to lose every time. Not be a lame tard who boos at the park like what happened to Osuna, but get a sense of satisfaction on the inside seeing Stroman melt down on social media like a little black Trump every time something doesn't go his way.
Boxcar Old-Timey Member Posted October 6, 2018 Posted October 6, 2018 Loup on the Phillies. Oops, forgot that one

Cleveland sucks, it is a shithole and people who live there don't deserve good things in their lives. Cleveland has been having too much winning recently. But with Lebron gone and the Indians on a downward trajectory buoyed only by their very s***** division, the city should go back to its normal state of irrelevancy pretty soon.

Why hate a team because of the city? Toronto is a crowded and crime ridden shithole as well, but we all still like the Jays.

Cleveland has been revitalized a lot in recent years. It's not really that much of a dumpster anymore. Baltimore has that title hands down. Maybe Detroit

I know when I was in school for architecture, all my profs were really big on Detroit as the newest "crown jewel" and they even had a deal with the school there to transfer course credits to pursue a degree.

Cleveland is actually a pretty cool city. It has cleaned up a lot and has revitalized. East 42nd Street is pretty awesome before games, West Side Market area is pretty hip and there are a lot of great restaurants and bars that have popped up all over the city. Granted, it's not like Toronto, but for a sports town, it's pretty good. The people there and the fans are extremely friendly as well. I've been down to Cleveland twice for sporting events (Jays in the ALCS in 2016 and the Raptors/Cavs Game 3 last year) and both times have been really fun. Might be driving down this Monday for Game 3.

Judging by your location, you're not exactly in a position to call anything a shithole. You're either on opioids while you're posting or drawing your shotgun to keep all the meth heads out of your apartment and from stealing your TV.

But we can all agree that Baltimore is terrible, even for those who haven't been there like me.

Crime ridden? The Economist ranked Toronto the 4th safest major city in the world and the safest major city in North America! Toronto the city is great. Toronto the city winning major sports championships...not so great. Maybe the Raps or leafs have a shot this year though!
KevinGregg Verified Member Posted October 6, 2018 Posted October 6, 2018 I definitely cheer for former Jays unless they go to the Yankees.
TheHurl Site Manager Posted October 6, 2018 Posted October 6, 2018 Why hate a team because of the city? Toronto is a crowded and crime ridden shithole as well, but we all still like the Jays. Why like a team because of geography?
TheHurl Site Manager Posted October 6, 2018 Posted October 6, 2018 Cleveland still has a lot of dumpster looking areas (all along the lake, other than the exact stadium district). But what Sil and John said is true they have done well with the re-working of the area. The casino is nice, they have 3 really cool bar districts that are clean and safe too. Detroit was pretty nice when I was there in 89. The issue with Detroit is that it is too reliant on one industry and when Ford is doing bad...the city will too. Detroit isn't 8 mile like many think though. For Baltimore I've only been to U. of Maryland so I can't really speak on it. Hard to believe that I have never been to see the Nats or O's. Just too many better options to watch a game.

I was in Baltimore a few weeks ago. The inner harbor area is nice and downtown is fine, but walk a few blocks and you're very suddenly in The Wire.
