BTS Community Moderator Posted July 31, 2018 Posted July 31, 2018 It would great if he’s walking away from baseball
John_Havok Old-Timey Member Posted July 31, 2018 Posted July 31, 2018 It would great if he’s walking away from baseball I haven't actually rooted for a guy to never play baseball again...until now.
Candy Maldonado Old-Timey Member Posted July 31, 2018 Posted July 31, 2018 probably just an injury update
BTS Community Moderator Posted July 31, 2018 Posted July 31, 2018 Is this even the kind of injury doctors would tell him won’t get better? Because there’s no way he’s leaving almost $60M on the table.
glory Old-Timey Member Posted July 31, 2018 Posted July 31, 2018 Yeah no way he’s retiring with the amount of money he has left on his contract. But who knows.

Because there’s no way he’s leaving almost $60M on the table. No, the Jays just talked BS about him coming back at or around the AS Break, his surgery recovery time is 8 - 10 months as Cespedes announced. He won't be back, his surgery was in late March.
Terminator Old-Timey Member Posted July 31, 2018 Posted July 31, 2018 Maybe he has reached a buyout agreement with the Jays and is retiring as a result?
Pendleton Old-Timey Member Posted July 31, 2018 Posted July 31, 2018 The team meeting, the "stuff you don't know yet" comment, the location of the press conference....they all do point in a certain direction.
Jonn Old-Timey Member Posted July 31, 2018 Posted July 31, 2018 I believe he is retiring, why else would he meet the media before at game at a certain time. Him retiring would be a godsend but the forfeit that money would be insane. Hes on the books until 2021.
Pendleton Old-Timey Member Posted July 31, 2018 Posted July 31, 2018 You guys are dreaming. You don't think the two sides could have met part way on a settlement to walk away, and that the meeting last night could have been to let the boys know the captain is hanging em up?
King Old-Timey Member Posted July 31, 2018 Posted July 31, 2018 It's probably just a chance for the media to talk to him, seeing as he hasn't been around all season.
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted July 31, 2018 Posted July 31, 2018 retire you old f***ing bastard He isn't old. And no, Pendleton, it's him saying he'll be back for ST.
Carlos Danger Old-Timey Member Posted July 31, 2018 Posted July 31, 2018 You don't think the two sides could have met part way on a settlement to walk away, and that the meeting last night could have been to let the boys know the captain is hanging em up? I think that makes sense, before all the guys get shipped away... I am being very optimistic though..
BTS Community Moderator Posted July 31, 2018 Posted July 31, 2018 Him retiring would be a godsend but the forfeit that money would be insane. Hes on the books until 2021. He could do the Prince Fielder “not retiring officially but doctors say I’ll never play again”
bones10 Old-Timey Member Posted July 31, 2018 Posted July 31, 2018 He isn't old. And no, Pendleton, it's him saying he'll be back for ST. hes f***ing dog s***
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted July 31, 2018 Posted July 31, 2018 Maybe he has reached a buyout agreement with the Jays and is retiring as a result? If I were him I wouldn’t take a penny less than the full contract. Why should he? Pride?
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted July 31, 2018 Posted July 31, 2018 If I were him I wouldn’t take a penny less than the full contract. Why should he? Pride? Right?
bones10 Old-Timey Member Posted July 31, 2018 Posted July 31, 2018 If I were him I wouldn’t take a penny less than the full contract. Why should he? Pride? maybe hes not a greedy ****
John_Havok Old-Timey Member Posted July 31, 2018 Posted July 31, 2018 If I were him I wouldn’t take a penny less than the full contract. Why should he? Pride? Yup. Unless he gets a 100% buyout ... may as well enjoy his 60 day DL status for the next 3 seasons.
John_Havok Old-Timey Member Posted July 31, 2018 Posted July 31, 2018 maybe hes not a greedy **** It's not really about greed, it's about getting what he is contractually obligated to receive.
