In response to me tweeting that nobody wants to read Sheryl's article, it's amazing how many people are telling me they want to read it yet NONE of them follow Fangraphs on Twitter lol

You should go full heel at this point. If you haven't already.

I now know what it feels like to be Curt Schilling on a daily basis

I would understand the support for these types of articles if they were at least well-researched and thought-provoking, but that isn't the case. She's a sloppy thinker, and her analysis is ham-fisted and often dishonest. Someone had to edit her last article on the topic because she lied about Chapman firing a gun at his girlfriend.

Why does anyone care what direction Fangraphs goes in? Not being forced to visit their website or read the articles you have no interest in.

If Fangraphs sees these types of articles as an overall win for them (ie. moving to more of a mainstream site as opposed to a saber site) so be it.

I'm aware of Ms. Ring and have not read any of her articles, nor do I expect to. I read the articles on subjects that interest me. Try it.

I care to the same extent I care when someone/something whose content I enjoy experiences a precipitous decline in quality. They have a limited number of staff, and at this point they've been reduced to questionable prospect content and one full-time writer producing content that I think is good.

Nah, their prospect content is actually pretty fantastic. You guys should try to enjoy the reports and overall prospect content instead of looking for an outlier ranking or two to satisfy your preconceived notions and biases.

BP's prospect coverage, for example, is far worse - and you have to pay for it.

Maybe because the direction Fangraphs is going is in the toilet?

Economics 101, Jim. You're welcome.

The problem with people like her is that the narrative is all that matters. Just like with this latest TIME cover with Trump and that little crying girl. No one there cares about what's true, they just care whether or not something advances their cause. It's quite appalling how often they get away with it, too.

Probably a wise move. Wouldn't put it past these people to go after his job because they disagree with his opinion.

yeah that is the s*** on stating an opinion on the net which I hate. A friend made a Facebook post complaining about a comedian using the R word about Down Syndrome children and the Comedians fans destroyed the reviews on his bar (business is down 25%). The Red Hen Restaurant in Connecticut (not the restaurant that refused Sarah Huckabee) is currently being ripped apart online. Unless it is your living to discuss these things it's sometimes not worth it to get involved.

NOt sure if you guys remember the whole thing about the woman from BC who was in a Lethbridge Denny's restaurant and started harassing a group of Afghan men who were in teh booth beside her. The video went viral and she got fired from her job at a Cranbrook car dealership, but they just rehired her.

Deleted the tweet, L54?

I think the full account

edit. It's just the tweet

Ya that's exactly what it was. Some derp from out west tweeted @ my employer so I figured that was my cue to get rid of it. Not that I was worried about my job, but you just never know nowadays.

That s*** pisses me off. Going after someone’s job because you disagree with their opinion is f***ing pathetic.

You have to be a pretty s***** human being to take delight in eliminating a person's livelihood. Most of these idiots are arts majors or something so they can't really relate to having a career you rely on.

Same. That pretty effectively stifles free speech.

Cliff notes on what happened?

L54 made a disapproving tweet of Sheryl Ring's latest s***** article

Some ******* tried to direct his employer to said tweet in order to get him fired

This is why I don’t buy that these people act the way they do out of concern for others. There’s no way anyone actually believes that there’s more harm in criticizing a fangraphs article than in costing a man his livelihood. I think it’s little more than a socially acceptable way to satisfy a desire to put people down.

That derp should be dragged behind a car and beaten for a while.

how many wins (or more precisely additional losses) do you think Osuna absence cost us? maybe we should account also for a demoralising the team (many losses) just after the news broke out as well

1 maybe 2 if you could account for some poor clubhouse.

I actually see 5 or 6 blown saves, that could have been avoided, add to that 2-3 big losses when news broke out

What are your thoughts on Heath Bell?

Oy....

Just need to be clear before I offer a rebuttal ... is your contention then that Osuna (or any other closer)... over the course of a season would be directly responsible for something in the neighborhood of 50 wins/losses?

43 games he's missed, the Jays have gone 18 and 25 since his issues started. your saying he's responsible for up to 9 games of that.... flipping their record to 27 and 16 since then, which would make them 46 and 32 now....only 1.5 games out of the 2nd wildcard?

No i said we have blow 5-6 saves since his absence, i am not saying he would have saved them all , but i surely believe we would be much much closer to the WD had the idiot not put his ego ahead of his team and career. keep in mind , this happened mid season so it put many in bulpen out of their natural position and comfort zone.

Blue Jays have a record of 8-4 when a reliever blows a save.

I don't think a 14-(-)2 record is out of the question
