Krylian Old-Timey Member Posted June 18, 2018 Posted June 18, 2018 Teoscar takes Madson deep on 97MPH. "Only hits bad pitching" Wasn't the pitch down the pipe?

BTS Community Moderator Posted June 18, 2018 Posted June 18, 2018 Teoscar has done a great job so far. 1.7 fWAR through his first 122 games in the majors. If he can slug his way to a couple of league average seasons in a corner OF spot, that's an amazing return on a few months of Francisco Liriano.
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted June 18, 2018 Posted June 18, 2018 Teo has a lot more power than I was given to believe when the Jays acquired him. He’s like Khris Davis with more defensive utility.
z3r0s Old-Timey Member Posted June 18, 2018 Posted June 18, 2018 Teams need guys like Teo. I have to think there is some better D in there somewhere to. That would go a long way

burlingtonbandit Old-Timey Member Posted June 18, 2018 Posted June 18, 2018 His arm is probably a 70 so if he can clean up his routes a bit he'll be a plus in LF. Even already he looks a hell of a lot better in LF than he did in RF.

L54 Old-Timey Member Posted June 18, 2018 Posted June 18, 2018 That doesn't make any sense to me unless it's a mental thing. You don’t think LF is easier than RF?
burlingtonbandit Old-Timey Member Posted June 18, 2018 Posted June 18, 2018 That doesn't make any sense to me unless it's a mental thing. You don't think he's looked better defensively since getting moved to LF?
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted June 18, 2018 Posted June 18, 2018 You don't think he's looked better defensively since getting moved to LF? I think that's a nonsensical Pat Tabler anecdote.
Brownie19 Old-Timey Member Posted June 18, 2018 Posted June 18, 2018 You don’t think LF is easier than RF? I might be missing your sarcasm, but in terms of route, positioning and tracking the ball - no, I don't. RF has an extra throw (RF to 3rd base) you have to make, although in general there are fewer balls hit to RF. Personally, based on Teoscar's route running and strong arm - he seems like perfect fit in RF. Put Grichuk and Pillar in LF and CF where there are more opportunities. The only thing I can't of that makes LF easier than RF is ball park configuration, or if someone struggles with balls slicing away from them (in which case LF would get fewer of those than RF). But that would seem negligible overall.
burlingtonbandit Old-Timey Member Posted June 18, 2018 Posted June 18, 2018 I think that's a nonsensical Pat Tabler anecdote. I dunno he looked awful in RF. In left he seems to have better routes to the ball.
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted June 18, 2018 Posted June 18, 2018 I dunno he looked awful in RF. In left he seems to have better routes to the ball. Leiper said as much, they love their OF defense the past few weeks, you're right, they think as much for now.
Ray Verified Member Posted June 19, 2018 Posted June 19, 2018 Hernandez is slashing .268/.319/.550 for the season now with a 133 OPS+ I still can't believe we got an everyday OF for Francisco Liriano.

closetjaysfan Verified Member Posted June 21, 2018 Posted June 21, 2018 His BABIP is back up where it was in MAR/APR. My big concern is he went from a 10.1 BB%, 21.7 K% in MAR/APR to a 2.3 BB%, 25.6 K% in JUN (and basically the same in April). That s*** doesn't seem sustainable. Yet his K% is better than a good chunk of our hitters, granted there have been a lot of injuries but we cant forget he is a rookie that we traded for next to nothing: Maile Granderson Donaldson Grichuck Martin Smoak All have worse K rates and at the end of the day his OPS, WAR and WRC+ speak for themselves.

Laika Community Moderator Posted June 22, 2018 Posted June 22, 2018 Teoscar "The Mirage" Hernandez is kind of a cool nickname It'll be a neat little joke he can work into his HOF induction speech too
