There is absolutely nothing wrong with having Carrera as an AAAA depth piece. Though at this point it's only fair to expect Hernandez and Alford to be ahead of him on the depth chart. Plus the 40-man roster spot.
jays4life19 Old-Timey Member Posted February 27, 2018 Posted February 27, 2018 The Jays are seriously going to miss Carrera .... Said no one ever
Jimcanuck Old-Timey Member Posted February 27, 2018 Posted February 27, 2018 First Goins, now Carrera..... f*** is going on

BTS Community Moderator Posted February 27, 2018 Author Posted February 27, 2018 I think we can dump him though and only pay 1/6 of his salary or whatever that rule is. I wonder if they’d prefer to pay him 300k to go away or 1.9M to wait a month or two in AAA then come up.
glory Old-Timey Member Posted February 27, 2018 Posted February 27, 2018 Zeke and Goins gone in one off season? Nice.

I think he's gone. Alford, Teoscar, Pompey, DSJ in Buffalo to go along with Granderson and Pearce at the big league level there's no need to pay the $1.6 mil it'd cost to keep him around.

Could invest that into depth in other places (assuming that it isn't already spent on Oh in the first place).

Almost too fantastic...
Ultimate Verified Member Posted February 27, 2018 Posted February 27, 2018 I wonder if this means that one of the young guys is going to make the team as a 4th outfielder. Maybe they rotate a few young guys through that spot so that one guy doesnt spend too much time on the bench. Really youve got 4 guys who should be starting at AAA ( Smith JR, Hernandez, Pompey, Alford). If you have one of those guys at the MLB level that frees up playing time for the other 3 at AAA (not to mention Parmlee and Fields).
Laika Community Moderator Posted February 27, 2018 Posted February 27, 2018 There's no room for the young guys out of the gate unless there is an injury. One of Granderson/Pearce is already on the bench. Then you need the C and very likely both Solarte and Diaz.

Terminator Old-Timey Member Posted February 27, 2018 Posted February 27, 2018 The OF depth is so fantastic. Almost too fantastic... Yeah the Buffalo OF as is the rest of that team is looking pretty solid. To go along with all those OFers it looks like Biagini might be down there to go with Borucki. Taylor Guerrieri and Pannone are interesting and they should be there as well. Then there's Gurriel, Gift and Urena. Nothing special but having guys like that with options isn't going to hurt. Jansen could be called upon at C. This is the first time in a long time that we actually have depth!
Laika Community Moderator Posted February 27, 2018 Posted February 27, 2018 depth boner who else has one?
glory Old-Timey Member Posted February 27, 2018 Posted February 27, 2018 With Tulo and Travis being as injury prone as they are, the team pretty much has to have Solarte and Diaz on the bench. Could always push Grichuk over to CF if need be. Not like Zeke can play CF (or LF, or RF).

A lot of it depends on the health of Travis and Tulo.

Terminator Old-Timey Member Posted February 27, 2018 Posted February 27, 2018 I would not be surprised if Tulo's days as a viable major league player were basically over.
Grant77 Old-Timey Member Posted February 27, 2018 Posted February 27, 2018 I wouldn't be surprised if Tulo couldn't play until June. Maybe July. Last I read, opening day was still a possibility for Tulowitzki.

Grant77 Old-Timey Member Posted February 27, 2018 Posted February 27, 2018 Opening day 2019 maybe. I doubt he plays 80 games this season Hyperbole aside, Sportsnet indicates that his projected return date is probably somewhere around opening day. Whether or not he makes that a reality remains to be seen.
