Quickly moving from a Stars and Scrubs team to a team with depth. Great way to rebuild in my opinion. Eventually start replacing players with Bo and Vlad and add some stars back into the mix, in the meantime shoot for the wild card and keep the season interesting.

I feel we will see a few more moves to address pitching depth soon...

Ross Atkins believes Randal Grichuk can potentially be an everyday player for them in RF this season. He’ll get the opportunity to win that job at least. #BlueJays

Why do so many people seem to hate the Blue Jays on social media lol. Seems every move they make you get people so mad with the org. Even happened during the AA era...

I know fans are stupid but its honestly ridiculous.

We have a huge fanbase that is probably dumber than average. So anytime big money isn't being spent in FA they are up in arms over it.

That's a pathetically low threshold.

Exactly. Is this really what our standards have become? He's better than Bats so thumbs up.

I would say this fanbase is top 5 in terms of stupid fans.

I like Leone and I think Greene could be a very good reliever, but I do think Grichuk has a lot of upside. I don't mind the trade itself, but why did we sign Granderson? Our bullpen cost us a s*** ton of games and we lost one of our best relievers. Our starting pitching cost us a ton and we haven't added a starter. We're hoarding middle infielders and outfielders. The closest major league ready talent is in the outfield with Alford and Hernandez. It's nice that buffalo will have some great players, but there's more than just depth, there's redundancies in our roster and our holes just got bigger with the loss of one of our better relievers. I would say one of Pearce or Morales have to be traded given the moves we've made, so we'll have to see what happens. Maybe we will get some help in the pen with a trade.

That plan works although Grichuk is a slightly above average CFer too. Now could be the time to move Pillar.

Definitely.

Pillar's defense is down, (29 and decline looming), we've probably seen the best of his bat, Alford has the potential to be a very solid OF and could probably start now...or in June, and the homophobic slur thing. If Pillar would fetch a decent relief pitcher and a decent prospect I trade him ASAP.

Well if you don't like Greene I guess that means he becomes an ace now?

I'm not sure that is the case with me. Osuna is probably the biggest of my predicted busts that actually became something, and most couldn't have predicted that he'd become a fit guy (which was my knock on him). I just choose not to own pitchers in Fantasy baseball, it's not like I'm wrong on them all.

Not sure about that. We just notice cause we're Jays fans and look for anything Jays related, so we see all of the stupid. There are some real high end idiots out there that are fans of other teams... We just probably don't hear all of their ramblings.

There is lots of dumb spread out around the entire league

Yeah that's the thing. In this Division you need to have Stars to build around to get those 90-95 Win teams to compete with the Yankees and Red Sox. The Red Sox might fall down a little bit in a few years but the Yankees are going to be a beast.

If Vlad, Bo and Alford can turn into 3-5 Win true talent players that will give the team 3 cheap impact position players to build around. If you can't get star talent you're basically left with teams like the Cardinals last year, which isn't going to cut it in the AL.

+ Jansen

Ideally you want to have a few more

I have to think we'll now look to pick up a cheap 5th starter, and could sign a reliever or two. Oh, Siegrist, and/or Romo would look like really nice targets, with an Anderson or Liriano as the SP. A backup catcher like Ruiz could be interesting too.

I would say looking for Blue Jays fans opinion's on Social Media, is probably where you took a wrong turn.

PIllar's defense isn't down just because you went on Fangraphs and looked at his numbers. He hasn't had a major injury and he just tunred 29 days ago. His physical tools likely won't see a major hit over the next 3 or 4 years. He's in his prime. I don't mind the idea of trading Pillar though. He provides a lot of value with his defense and base running. We could get a quality return to help us other areas/

Probably, you see this from the facebook, TSN, Sportsnet comments plus just talking to casual fans.

I don't know about that. I think the dumb ones in the USA just focus more on politics and racial inequality.

22 homers last year, perhaps Shatkins thinks his power can help.

Project it over 600 PA. He's good for 30 HR. But he strikes out a f***-ton and his BB-rate is nearly Pillar territory.

Grichuk had a 94 wRC+ in 2017 and 103 wRC+ in 2016. He was worth 1.4 WAR in 2017 and 2.2 WAR in 2016.

Again, project over 600 PA. He's averaged 3.2 WAR/600 PA over the last 3 seasons but 2015 might have been the outlier.

Think Grichuk is over 3 WAR per 600/PA for his career.

Confirmed.

Jays are out on Cain

Why have only 6 qualified OFers when you can have 7.
